Widget display differences on similar phones

Widget differences

The first image is my Nexus 5x on android 8 Oreo. It has a 1920x1080 display.
The second image is my Pixel 2 on android 8 Oreo. It has a 1920x1080 display.

however, when I resize the widget on the Pixel, I can only see 3 days forecast. When I resize it on the nexus 5x I see 4 days.
Likewise if I expand the widget to the full screen on Nexus 5x, I see 5 days. On Pixel 2 I only see 4 days.
Same android version and same screen res. What am I missing here?
