Propose a NEW LAYER / FEATURE You'd like on Windy
-
Dear Windy users,
this topic is for everyone who wants to propose a new layer or a new feature to Windy. Feel free to upvote the posts with best suggestions, so we may focus on them with higher priority.

Altitude and coverage of convective clouds (cumuli) ...I will implement it one day :-) but if there are more people wanting this, please upvote!

Start-up settings in the iOS app!
Please let me specify the start-up location (e.g.one of my favorites) when I open the app or click the home icon (little house) on the right.

Hi, I would like to know if you have the possibility to integrate the other global models such as ICON, thank you for your service, it is great.

Can we please have the capability of switching between street/satellite background map on the main screen? Its buried in the advanced settings, which is a pain to use - please, I like to be able to locate decent hills using contours, then switch to satellite background to see how it looks in real world!

I am a new user, and I love this tool. However, I see a station reporting a temperature of -561C, a physical impossibility. I suggest filtering out impossible values. It would also be good, though computationally expensive, to filter out improbable values -- the algorithm that comes to mind is to compute the first derivative of the displayed variable with respect to position along an east-west axis (or north-south or both) and delete points that give rise to unbelievable slope values. But, as that takes a lot of CPU, it might be better to let a user press the value to open its data sheet and then toggle a switch to either remove it or report it to you for editorial attention.

I would like also to propose to integrate some real time satellite images.
thank you again. -
I propose a new layer -- Ocean Surface Currents from High Frequency Radar
This is a near, real-time product much like weather radar so could just be the most recent hourly observations or static 25hr average. It would be a sweet addition to the lineup of great layers.
There are four different grids based on the frequency of radars used and proximity to coast. The 2km and 6km grids have the most coverage but coarsest resolution.

Add a emergency and disaster layer, like RSOE EDIS

Hi. Congratulations for your site!
I am a paralider pilot. The wind directions in the alerts are not enough "fine tunable" for me. In paragliding more or less 20°make a big difference... Example : I can not set an alert at "ONO", I can only choose between O or NO. -
@jmgalan being honest 20% is just about precision and tolerance of forecasting model, anyway wind direction always oscillates.

@qrj77416 WOW this is nice? What do you know about this service?

Better Alarm system with independent alarms for all layers
See https://community.windy.com/topic/5115/alarm-conditions-with-and-operators -
@michal-koldinsky
Hi. A version ago on the mobile app there was a slider on the left for altitude. And a setting/slider on the right for the basic view type.
I found this very useful as a pilot.
I’m presuming you moved away from it because many users are not pilots/aviators.
So I would like to propose a user-specified configuration that allows an aviation user (or whoever) to view/utilize the “two slider” GUI.
Thanks!

You could add many German weather stations for free.. Offered by DWD

I propose a new layer - Weather front.

A Cyclone/Hurricane/Typhoon Forecast Track
Once a Tropical Storm is "detected" (not sure with the term), there will be a forecast track for this storm with details about the max. wind speeds, gusts, and storm category.
I use this website for forecast tracks and other information (like chances of an area experiencing TS force winds, chances of landfall, etc.)
