Yesterday, more than 40cm of snow covered sand dunes in Ain Sefra, Algeria.

Tonight, snow is expected (again) in parts of Morocco and Algeria.

Snow is not covering the whole Sahara lol. Ain Sefra is in the Saharan Atlas moutain at 1300m, same for El Bayadh airport. In winter the climat is quitte cold there, even if the snow is unusal. The snow fall on Morocco in the Great Atlas is more common. There are small ski resorts in this area, and in north Algeria too.

Of course snow is not covering the whole Sahara ! The "title" came from the site (express) named above. I mention that snow is forecasted in places of Morocco and Algeria and today I was impresed that this forecast came true.
For weather models, forecasting snow in The Alps is something usual
but forecasting snow in places of Algeria, I think is a good indication
of how the models have improoved.
In any case, snowing for two consecutive days is impressing. Isn't it?

Right, I agree. The descent of cold air along Spain and Morocco was forecasted 4 or 5 days ago if I remember. Quite stunning !

Hi, the same scenario sems to be forecasted for next week end with again snow at door of Sahara. A descent of polar air along the HP ridge will bring low temperature down to Morocco and Algeria, with snow probably about 1500m.
