      Data provided by NOAA NESDIS

      The image shows that the sea surface temperature in the area of New Zealand is up to 4 C above normal for the day.
      Methodology: https://coralreefwatch.noaa.gov/satellite/methodology/methodology.php#ssta

      Comparing windy data with NOAA data
      https://www.ospo.noaa.gov/Products/ocean/sst/anomaly/
      I see that windy overestimates sea temp. anomaly.

      Maybe there is a bug here!

      @developers
      @Marienka
      must investigate that.
      The situation shown on windy, looks like the one from 22 Jan (!!!) 2018.

        Many thanks, assuming we must calibrate back against buoy data?
        Please update on any developments / corrections etc.

          the sea temp. anomaly for the area of New Zealand for the 6th of Aug. 2018
          is near to zero

              On 22nd January MSLP Analysis for Australia shows an abiding High Pressure system hovering near New Zealand, which effectively wiped out the normal eastern Australian rainfall, by driving it towards the south of Australia..

                Today (12 August) we continue to have a similarly positioned High Pressure near New Zealand, that through its natural anti-clockwise rotation, continues to act as a 'tractor system' in effectively driving out all the eastern Australian rainfall..

                      @gkikas-lgpz Hi, this is really bug. Thank you! We are going to look at it. Maybe we will discontinue this parameter.

                        Please consider that this parameter is worth pursuing - ultimately. Further to this is there a contact I may be able to communicate with, re development of a number of threat based algorithms? This would lead to a commercial product / branch with the possibility of supplying a "professional version" for use by emergency management authorities etc. This with view to providing early warning against a range of dynamic converging threats to assets ranging from crops to communities.

                          Hey I think the problem is that they haven't updated the sea temp anomaly in months. Now, on 9/12/18, I realized that sea temp anomaly has been removed which is a shame. Does anyone know if it is being worked on or if it is gone for good?

                            Give us a source of good data in GRIB2 format and we consider using it again.

                              I use the anomaly sea surface temperature function several times a week for my work. Go on this link:
