What is the difference between the surge readings (surge1, surge2, surge3)?

        You probably mean Swell1, Swell2, Swell3.
        Here is the explanation:

Thank you. That is what I was referring to. Would it be possible to add a Storm Surge layer or P-surge layer in the future? These items should be free in the US through NOAA and the National Hurricane Center, and are generally only available within 72 hours of a Hurricane's landfall. This added layer in conjunction with all of the other information already available within Windy would really help serve Emergency Management departments preparing for a Hurricane in the US. Thanks again!

Y’re welcome. I’m not sure that Storm surge could be available as a layer on Windy. Do the NHC provide free data of sea level during storm surge event? If it’s only pictures or warnings then it seems difficult to integrate them here.

@idefix37 NHC only provides one static map of potential surge, not predicted and changing surge over a time perioud, so I would imagine it would be extremely difficult to include in such a dynamic system. Thanks again

Yes they provide public data feeds of all tidal gauges: https://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/stations.html?type=Water+Levels

Click on one then on the web services button in the bottom right for API details.

I’m not sure to clearly understand the different figures and curves here below :

Does the blue curve is the Astronomical Tide and the red one the Storm Tide ?
(Storm Tide = Astronomical Tide + Storm Surge)
And why this red curve is called « Preliminary » ?

Blue is predicted water level in the gauge, Red is actual measurement, and is called preliminary because they haven't confirmed the equipment isn't faulty yet. The datum sets where zero is on the scale - by default mean of the lowest of the 2 tides each day.

So is the blue curve the predicted astromical tide and the red one the measured water level by the gauge including the storm surge?
