In addition, see also a recent article on Windy:
https://community.windy.com/topic/10871/the-history-of-weather-balloon
These soundings allow to obtain the profile of several parameters (temperature, dew point temperature, pressure, wind ...) and to draw this kind of diagram:
https://soaringmeteo.org/raspsounding.pdf

On Windy, soundings are not the result of launching balloons into the atmosphere, but they are obtained from weather models data at different altitudes. That makes possible to plot, for example from the ECMWF model, this kind of atmospheric profile:

Soundings are much more useful to pilots than to sailors.

For me this is an usual symbol for « no wind ».
https://blog.mapbox.com/mapping-wind-barbs-to-show-speed-and-direction-4d3078add03d
Sometime « no wind » or « calm » is shown by 2 concentric circles.

The saturation ratio (connecting the dew point on ground level with the red line)

The dry adiabate (from ground level to the point where the saturation ratio line reaches the redline

And the moist adiabate (continuing from the red line)

Is that correct?

If the sounding window is partially hidden by the meteogram, just drag the map upward and the sounding window will follow.

Then when you click on the sounding window, a horizontal bar appears. It gives temperature and wind figures at a chosen level. You can click on this bar itself and drag it at the level you want. If you drag it below the horizontal axis, it disappears.
Personally I do not see the need to improve this feature.

This is what I get when I open the pop-out. It is sometimes partially hidden behind the weather window

I think the pop-out should be in front of everything.

The second item is the handle for moving the horizontal line, at the moment I have found by trial and error that it is sometimes about one third of the pop-out window's height below the actual line, but then there are times when it behaves , randomly. If I left click in the pop-out the horizontal bar will move up, down, or disappear.
I am seeing the website through Firefox run by Ubuntu.

Regards
