Find location by its coordinates](/topic/80/find-location-by-its-coordinates)
Hello!
How to insert into windy.com coordinates which are presented in the following form: 14° 37.16 N, 044° 47.50 W -
Hi @grabmir,
unfortunately this format is not supported. Windy supports only:
- DMS format (e.g
36°59'21.2"N 84°13'53.3"W
) - DMM format (e.g
36 59.35333, -84 13.888333
) - DD format (e.g
36.989213,-84.231474
)
But thank you for your suggestion, we will think about extending coordinates detection.
- DMS format (e.g

For the DMS format, how do I enter the "degrees" symbol? I don't see it available on my iPhone Xs keyboard.

@cirrus48 From the iOS keyboard on your iPhone or iPad: First hit the “123” button to see the numerical keypad. Now you can access the degree sign by tapping and holding the 0 (zero) key. This will reveal the degree symbol, and this can be selected through a pop-up menu that appears over the key. Alternatively you can copy and paste from anywhere.

Where is the support for these different versions of coordinates?
When I check a location, I'm seeing the DMS coordinates in windy.com. I would like to see the DD coordinates because my GPS app only supports those.
I've checked settings to see if I can change my default but couldn't locate where to change it.Any help would be much appreciated :)
Thanks. -
@jakke
You can enter coordinates in 3 different formats in the search box, but Windy displays only DMS format in the weather picker.
What is the point of displaying the coordinates in DD, do you use Windy as a navigation app? Just insert the DD coordinates shown by your GPS in the search box of Windy. -
Thank you for your answer.
No I have a separate GPS app and it only takes DD coordinates for waypoints. It's OK though, I figured out that the DD coordinates are in the URL when you click on kite spots, I can work with that. -
@jakke
OK I understand you want to find the Windy spots using your GPS and you’ve found the way to obtain the coordinates in DD format.
Well done, you got it ! -
