Distance measurement

I use this site as an additional marine sailing weather reference source. I find to be fantastically accurate.
If someone could add to the page a Distance Scale that would change with changing zooming scales, that would fantastic. It could be a distance bar at the bottom of the page either in nautical, statute or kilometers.
If Waypoints could be utilized indicating distances between the points; and in total for multiple points, that would be just great!

I wish I knew how to do it myself....
