Windy launches "Observation vs. Forecast"

Have you tried to figure out which forecast model is the best for a given location? Not a problem anymore with our new feature: Observation vs. forecast!
Easy to use graph overlays with observed data from 30.000+ weather stations we monitor, with forecast from all the models we use: ECMWF, GFS, NEMS, ICON-EU, AROME, NAM.
We believe that this new feature will help you make your weather-related decisions even better than before.
And how to launch this new feature? It is easy, just open your favourite weather station and there you are!
But not only that. Now you can even:
- Store any weather station as your favourite by clicking on symbol "♥︎".
- Search any weather station by keyword. Try "11518" for wmo station in Prague.

For sure, this feature will be useful to appreciate which is the best model locally.At the same time, I see that you have launched AROME ! This is a real benefit for the region covered by this high resolution model.
What a beautiful « picture » of the Alps it gives with the Temperature layer !

Hello - Is it still possible to access the old style weather station observation page? For my local weather station 03684 I preferred the compact format which for me was consistent with the hourly resolution of the data. Thanks!

I’ve just changed the colors of this layer, considering White for 0°C.
Then I have kept the default colors for positive temperatures, except for the highest. I have replaced the Black by White, because I keep the image of a piece of steel that you heat. It takes successively these colors: Red-brown, red, light red and finally white, with no risk for me to confuse with the 0°C color.
For the negative colors I have changed the default colors too. There are OK near the ground but in high altitude e.g. at 500hPa, I would like more color changes. Just need to work on it.

That's cool! Thank you! I think it would be easier to pick the best forecast for location if you do the option to compare with all models at once or with the seleted models

I like the comparison but would still like to be able to see the old style where it provided a graphical representation of wind over the hours.

Good feature, but i think the old style should be maintained. I think when you just want to observe the station's data, the old one was more readble.

It is an information I was really looking for.
I am always wondering what model we should use.If you manage to keep this information and provide a long-term (1year?) summary of this comparison it would be perfect.

@Gkikas-LGPZ It seems that the orange bars indicate strong wind gusts, and that the red circles indicate times when the forecast was not accurate. Really sweet feature to see how accurate the forecast is at a glance.
The color coding that is labelled VFR and MVFR all of the way at the bottom are instrument recommendations and visibility ratings.

I asked why red for only one degree difference?
What are the criteria for red (bad) forecast?
I never asked for VFR etc coding. It's obvious! -

Green circle: ≤ 3 degrees
Tan circle: 3-5 degrees
Red circle: ≥ 5 degrees -

Overall, yes to progress. However, please bring the wind strength graph back. It was enormously useful for sailors.
