Wave height goes from 2 to 6 to 9 meters should be more detailed in between , I run small to large fishing vessels and it's important to know ,other than that I really like the app.

You can modify layer colours for more detail.

In addition, I think the way is also to use the picker to get precise figures.
On the other hand, you will note that the colour scale shows in fact more steps if you consider the Waves colour layer settings rather than the colour scale in the bottom right corner of your screen.

Hi Glen, I see you're actually referring to the less than ideal overlay legend increments in the bottom-right of screen. I'm not a fan of the legend display either but there's an easy way to get an accurate read on wave heights at any point you want to check.

I custom-made a more detailed depiction of wave heights for people such as yourself. I also worked at sea when young so I get how important accurate wave forecasts are. The custom overlay I created looks like the following and is using the wind waves overlay setting within Windy to take the following screens.

Note that you can do the same thing with the standard overlays too.

You can manually check on wave height via using right-mouse click anywhere on the display screen, and a menu will pop-up which looks like this one:

            Right-click menu view:
            Screenshot_2019-02-21 Windy as forecasted.png

Press the Show weather picker option and it will then display a 'sample flag' that looks like the following image and which provides the height of the waves where the white dot at its base is situated.

34 feet where the white dot is located ...
            Screenshot_2019-02-21 Windy as forecasted(1).png

You can then grab the top (grey part) of the flag with your left mouse button, and drag the sample-flag's white dot to another location then let the left-mouse button go again, and it will show the wave height at the new location, for instance:

            6 feet ...
            Screenshot_2019-02-21 Windy as forecasted(2).png

Just drag and drop wherever you want to check.

            0 feet ... calm conditions.

If you also want to use the graphics that are shown here they’re stored at this link:

            https://community.windy.com/topic/7787/windy-customized-graphics-version-3

Read the directions on how to install them, and when ready, the setting for the wave graphics can be selected and copy-and-pasted into Windy from this link:

              Hi Glenn,

I understand that your concerns are mainly about the lack of intermediate figures between 2 and 9m wave height.

              230C6E63-FB0C-4918-9C7E-D7156B6D4896.jpeg

Unfortunately, even if you modify the Waves colour settings, the height scale will not be changed. In all cases there are only a total of 6 numbers shown on this scale.
So the best is to use the picker as explained in the previous posts.
