App has no way to set Home screen Start-up zoom

In the app in Settings, we can change the Start-up location (which is where apparently tapping the house Icon will take one).
But we cannot change the Home screen/Start-up zoom! -
@jidanni That is correct. It's not a bug.

OK. (But perhaps do like the Flightradar24 app, remembering the previous zoom through thick and thin (all manner of restarts, powerdowns, etc.)

@TomSlavkovsky Could there be a setting to change this? Mine starts showing almost whole east coast of US, and I have to spend several seconds zooming every time. Pretty annoying.

@jidanni @scandium We have been discussing it yesterday. The map starts in zoom 5, with the ECMWF model, and wind map to keep application fast. There are usually three requests regarding the start of the Windy app
zoom level,weather model selection, andmap selection. Allowing adjusting these three components will create huge load on our servers. We will look into this and if we find some sustainable solution we will provide it into the app. -
@TomSlavkovsky The user just has to adjust them by hand anyway after the app opens, so no savings. Or are you saying most users are happy looking at the defaults? If so they would also not try to set a preferred startup configuration either.

@TomSlavkovsky this premise seems wrong. Like another user stated, everyone just zooms in after opening the app anyway. Same load on the server. Better to simply not have to send the super zoomed out data in the first place.

This is a ridiculous setting to not have the option to choose.
Every time you open the app you’re so zoomed out that you see half the world.
Even when select home when you’re already zoomed in the app then zooms out to show you all the surrounding countries.Why don’t you guys at Windy fix this already ???

Google sent me here because I thought I'm dumb for not finding this option. I'm using the widget in my motorcycle Navi app. Clicking in the widget shall open windy with the rain overlay and a zoom level that shows about 100 km in each direction from my location. I don't want to zoom around while on the road. Please provide the option to set a standard zoom for current location. This would really help and make the app more useful for us travelers.

@codevoid Hi, possibility to set your preferred zoom level will be available in version 47, which is planned as a next update this month.
