I know it is still work in progress and not sure how you have implemented this functionality.
But can you add feature when you drag and drop file to map area, it automatically parses it.
It is much easier than adding files through file picker.You can test dragging files (gpx, kml, kmz, geojson) to map in my site: https://gis.ee/meri/
