Upload, display and share your KML, GPX or GeoJSON on Windy

Our front end junior developer @iblfilip just finished long awaited Windy functionality: the file uploader.
Just visit https://www.windy.com/uploader and display KML, GPX or GeoJSON file on Windy.
Each file can be saved to our cloud either as public or private.
Each saved file than can be shared using nice shareable URL like this: https://www.windy.com/upload/5cef2a2781b2ea0012a05d5d

Nice feature, very handy. Suggestion: it would be really neat if you could have an option to show the historical weather data based on the date of the gpx appear.

Very good. I've been waiting for a way to save and load routes from the distance and planning tool, and/or other gpx routes.
For next rev. take a look at 180 Meridian and routes that cross it. Please see...

It would be possible to see the wind animations corresponding to the day of the recording of the track? -
@juven this is not possible, we don't hold historical data.

@ivo Very nice function. Would be great to display the weather history at the timestamps of the uploaded track.

NIce first try, but it doesn't retain the kml after putting it onto the display. Plus, it doesn't load a kml from the saved space. Keep working on it, thank you!

I have the same problem.
Loaded a gpx file, saved it.
I see the track on the map as long as the upleader is open.
Once I hit the red X to close the uploader window - the track dissapear.Koby

I am looking to upload a KML made in GoogleEarth but I was hoping to use custom icons for the place marks.
Upon upload, the location co-ordinates are saved however Windy does not keep the custom icon - if I resort to a google earth icon Windy will display it. The icon is saved locally in my pictures. Is there a way to achieve this upload?

You’ll have to save it as a .KMZ file to maintain your custom icons, waypoints, etc. It’s basically the same thing as a .KML extension, but in a zip file format that will save your customizations.

Amazing work! It would be cool to support more file formats and be able to view them on mobile version too!
