Distance and bearing marker
-
Thank you for creating windy. Not only is extremely helpful with weather routing but it isfun to observe weather conditions around the world . What would be helpful is a distance and bearing markers that I can maneuver around the screen. Is this possible?
-
Yes, this is already possible. Open the Menu and select 'Distance & Planning' :)
-
Cannot seem to find that option I have V 19.10.0
-
@kbjjh just drag and drop them (1-2-3 circle nodes)

Distance & Planning:
I can plan a route, but I can't see the direction or coordinates while I'm planning. I only see this data when I have finished planning.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Planning works on iPhone, but not on Android.

@Stefanie-Ballon
If you use the Distance & planning tool on the mobile app you need you click on “Show coords” in the grey top banner to see the coordinates of waypoints and bearing.On the browser version they are displayed in “More options”
@Suty On the browser version when coordinates are displayed with the picker it seems possible to copy them.
But that does work as there is no way to paste them anywhere including in the search bar.So as you can’t paste them, you need to enter coordinates in the search bar in one of these 3 formats:
https://community.windy.com/topic/7290/inserting-coordinates/2?_=1678387876298
But note that the DMS format is very difficult to use on the mobile because minutes and seconds signs are not available in the keyboard. Or you need to use a workaround. -
@idefix37 Thank you for reporting. To be completely sure that we talk about the same behavior. It is not possible to click on the popup "Copy to clipboard", am I right?
-
This label “ copy to clipboard” appears when I click on the coordinates, so they should be then in the clipboard ready for pasting. But the clipboard is empty.
-
@idefix37 Yes, I can see it when I've finished my planning. But I cant see it during my planning.
-
@Stefanie-Ballon
That’s right, or you can enter in the search bar some points by their coordinates and save them as provisional favorites to use them for the route plotting as WP. But it’s a bit tricky unless you use this route regularly. -
@idefix37 Hi, I tested it once again and it normally works. It pastes coordinates in Safari and Brave browser as well.
-
@Suty
You mean it paste the coordinates in the search bar? I need to check again. I was using Chrome on Mac. -
@idefix37 the bit that confuses me is DMS is displayed, and when you paste it in the search bar it changes to DD.

@idefix37 In the last version of windy it was possible to see the coordinates under "bearing" while planning (before I clicked finish).
