Here in Windy, we believe in science, math and facts.
But not only that. We observe with our own eyes that the climate is rapidly changing. Here in Prague, Czechia in the heart of Europe, we witness the effects of global warming almost every day.
- Our whole country encountered several years of serious drought
- Forests in our country are dying in large volumes due to the drought
- We witness unprecedented torrential rains and winds destroying huge areas of forest
- While we had nice white winters in my childhood, snow becomes an exception these years
- Summer heatwaves have become common, paralyzing people and our nature
And that is just Czechia. Imagine e.g. Quatar that will become uninhabitable before the end of the century.
In order to show others that we take our climate seriously, the climatologist Ed Hawkins (https://twitter.com/ed_hawkins) created easy-to-understand Warming Stripes that display annual average temperatures for the globe (or specific country) from 1850 to 2018
But not everybody believes in science. "Global warming is a hoax," is the argument that I hear sometimes. Or "we cannot do anything with it".
That is totally untrue.
Of course we can do something about it. And we will! Almost all countries signed the Paris Agreement, and they agreed on the 1.5°C - 2°C goal. I am happy to see that governments all over the world are getting on board with this, and that this effort will maybe preserve the conditions of this planet.
Not for ourselves anymore but for our children and grandchildren.
Ed Hawkins's Warming Stripes are the simplest thing that everybody can do, and do it now.

A temporary warming trend may have happened, but it will reverse soon. MAN has NOT caused major climate shifts. It's very surprising that such a decent weather site, run by people who claim to love science, are using fake and fabricated pseudo science politically in an attempt to control others lives through corruption such as this fake AGM climate change.
When socialism and communism fall, this corruption will fade away as well. YOU need to get on the right side of history and worry about pollution, a REAL problem, and stop with this socialist push for control. Free people will NOT surrender. EVER.

Weather is not climate. Climate-change is not observed by humans in real-time, nor even within a satellite record. It's detected only centuries after it's already taken place and been recorded in the earth's changing surface phenomena, predominantly sediments, their geomorphology, movements of flora and fauna, and via isotope analysis of marine sediments an ice cores. Models of future states are at best a guess, at worst a belief system.

@Non-Terrestrial I couldn't have said it better in so few words. I now know that Windy is not independent and will question their data and analysis. AGW is a great example of a world government conspiracy. Real data shows we are going into a major cooling period, with greatly intensified weather systems caused by the increased cosmic rays bombarding our planet. There will be increasing geological events (volcanoes - already happening, earthquakes in places not seen in a very long time) and extreme temperature diversions. "Climate Change"? Yes. Caused by man? No. How a real scientist can believe that WE control planetary weather proves we don't have real scientists employed but just tools. Email-gate anyone? They are hoping you forget all of the deceptions brought into the daylight. Real scientists prove this conspiracy with open source data and facts, not the spoon-fed lies of paid-off scientists. It is truly criminal because humans cannot prepare for what is coming...and it's NOT caused by man.

You CANNOT assess the effects of climate without looking at climate trends to include the last couple of ice ages. When you do that you see that we are middle of the road in regard to warming (it was even warming in the middle ages) and we are more likely due for a long cooling period. It is automatically silly to make weather remarks like drought, severe storms or even long dry summers. Climate is a whole other animal and frankly, we are all tired of this relative ignorance from the Global Warming crowd, who by the way keep changing the name of their non-science based scare campaign. In the 50s it was Ecology, then Global Warming, then Climate Change now they want to repeat the slogan Climate Emergency. They have no data, none to support such nonsense and the wide public knows it. Flat Earthers clung to their silliness for centuries....the Global Warming crowd are doing the exact same thing. Science is not done by "consensus" it is done by being skeptical about ANY and ALL theory and driving until the truth becomes clear. We have ZERO solid evidence mankind has changed a thing....

So sad, paranoid whacko conspiracy theorists. Even if they're the last living creatures on Earth, their egos will never let them ever admit that they were wrong and victimized by the conservative media outlets that they worship. Fortunately, while they are the majority on this thread, throughout the world, they are a tiny percentage of people. Too bad so many live in the U.S., a country that has way too much clout.

This topic seems to be explosive. I understand that many people are against
"global warming religion", but think about it pragmatically.
If we call "Warming" the situation when "climate is changing rapidly and it is caused by mankind",
then there are 4 options:A. Warming is not true and we believe it is not true
B. Warming is not true and we believe it is true
C. Warming is true and we believe it is true
D. Warming is true and we do not believe it is trueIf we want to do any action we should behave pragmatically, economically, rationally.
Consider the damage control. There are 2 faults among these options: B. and D.
If B. is our reality we may waste our energy and money uselessly and our children will laugh at us in future.
If D. is our case, it means that we are borrowing our wealth from future generation, our children will hate us.
From this point of view the "panic" about Warming is completely understandable.If we think about what is caused by humans: Daily weather is caused by humans. If you live in big city,
the temperature, moisture, evaporation, albedo, everything is massively influenced by human and you can measure it.
If you look at countryside from air, you can see that the terrain is completely changed by human. It also affects daily weather.
People have power to change the landscape, to destroy or plant whole forests.
Greenhouse hypothesis is about composition of atmosphere. I do not want to judge whether that hypothesis is true
or false. But people are moving fossil fuel from land to atmosphere. That is fact. One day all fossil fuel
will be moved from land to atmosphere, it will not magically disappear.
50000kg of airliners fuel means exactly 50000kg of waste. It is taken from land and put to air circulation.Rising temperature is reality. Question is: Is it caused by our technical revolution? Nobody is sure, but there is correlation.
Do not cry, do not panic, just think about A, B, C, D. -

When I was student, the CO2 concentration was 330ppm and now it is close to 420ppm.
Then there is a strong correlation between CO2 concentration and global mean temperature.
But global warming deniers will explain that a correlation is not a proof of cause and effect link.

Temperatures always had a wide range in the past. This is proven by ice core samples with records over 600,000 years (antartica cores). Comparing these temperatures with the last 150 years is not science. Our complex climate models do not work with the past.

Is an increase of 0.6°C significant compared with the past (~10°C)? No!
Is it science to take a tiny chunk of time (150 years) and compare this with 600,000 years (ice core samples antartica)? -
The diagram I presented is about CO2 MEASURMENTS from the '60s till today,
It is not temperature forecasts.CO2 levels in the atmosphere are now ~400 ppm.
Samples from air bubbles trapped in ice, show that CO2 levels
never surpassed 300 ppm during the past 800,000 years.
