Windy launches Satellite layer
-
Absolutely sterling work, guys, keep it going!

I like it. I like it.
I would somehow like to see cloud tops.
I also would like to see rain over imposed.
Wow. I like it.
Thank You...

@ivo Looking good.

Yes, very impressed with satellite layer and find it extremely useful.

These days the Alps are totally visible with no clouds in the sky. Unfortunately the COVID-19 prevents people to do outdoors activities in most alpine countries.
BTW it should be nice to have the snow in white instead of yellowish as low clouds. -
@idefix37 We are not able to distinguish between snow and low clouds. There are some products allowing pixel classification of satellite images, but they are not reliable at all. So we decided to show the images as they are.

@TZ
Hi, I’ve asked the question just because I remember to have seen a satellite picture with low clouds in yellowish color, and snow in white. -
@idefix37 Hi, this would be great. If you can direct me to such solution we can integrate it. Unfortunately we were not able to solve this yet.
-
@TZ
I have not the solution unfortunately and even not kept this picture. -
Thank you for you amazing work i like this feature

The display of satellite images by windy.com is very good, not only smooth, but also perfect in detail, which is a model for global meteorological departments to learn from. I would like to ask, what are the color schemes of the three displays (BLUE, VISIBLE, INFRA+) inside? Was it composited using "RGB"? Is there any relevant literature that can be referred to?
