Windy launches Satellite layer

Great tool. Used this to warn wildland firefighters of incoming cold front with thunderstorms yesterday in northern Ontario, CA. Our location is outside of radar so also used it to advise division supervisors when it was going to be clear enough for them to get out with the helicopters and check on the fire crews.
Thank you

@idefix37 Unfortunately not, the color is based on temperature. So from this imagery it is not possible to determine clouds altitude. Also it is not possible to distinguish between snow and low clouds. It could be possible with some cloud mask products. To sum it up: this is challenge for future ;-)

@TZ

@seba397
In INFRA+, cloud top temperature given in Kelvin scale (K).
240K - 273.15 = -33.15°C
200K - 273.15 = -73.15°C -
Looks spectacular, Love it

It will be exrtemely helpfull if there will acces for the different satelite channels (just HRV or IR) and RGB composition of channels like NHC RGB Dust Or Fog-and-Low-Clouds (FLC) Products!

@ivo
I think, cloud top temperature scale must be visible only in conjunction with INFRA+.
It has no use with VIS nor INFRA.Also https://community.windy.com/topic/8960/suggestion-ability-to-change-units-in-infra

A few hours ago we could observe images of Ubinas volcano eruption in Peru.
To find the volcano, type « volcan Ubinas » in the search bar. The plume can be seen if you select 12h, both in VISIBLE and INFRA+It seems that there is a small gap between the plume and the volcano itself, about 7km.

The projection seems very off with California's coast line. It appears you guys managed to finally sink Los Angeles #GlobalWarming
