Thank you for this. My app used to open to my chosen city but just recently started opening to a city 3 states away from my home location. I would rather use GPS locator so if I'm traveling, it will always open where I am currently located. Had to change it to my city so it would stop opening 3 states away.

Hello @chadmccullough, is it possible, that you have restricted the application to use your location on your device?

@Simona-Polackova It would be nice if this actually worked.

On an imac, followed your instructions, already added my home town to favorites, so picked that from the available choices and nothing changes. Refreshed the page, STILL nothing changed. Now it's picking a town not all that far from me but still, NOT MY HOME. Guess this thing is just gimpy and I'll have to live with it this way.

@Artmaker Could you please provide a screenshot of your settings, so we can better understand the issue?

                @Simona-Polackova Hello!

I'm new and tried to find an answer to my question, but this topic was the closest I could find. I hope it's ok to ask here, because I also could not find where to start a whole new topic. 😜

When I touch the home icon on the mobile app, the search bar does not display my chosen location (currently via GPS). I've never heard of the location it's displaying, but I think it might be in this region based on the language used in the name of the place. I also tried to take a screenshot to share here, but when I do that data disappears, which makes me think it could just be a default until specifics are entered.

Is it normal to have a random location displayed there and should I trust that the temps, etc displayed to the left of it actually reflect my chosen location?

                Appreciate the help
                Michele

@Sor4rtemis Hello, the app should recognize your location based on GPS and IP. Please check if you allowed Windy to use your location services.

Vorticity advection is a concept in fluid dynamics that describes the transport or movement of vorticity by the flow of a fluid. Vorticity itself is a measure of the local rotation of a fluid element in a flow field.

When vorticity is advected, it means that the existing vorticity is being transported by the fluid flow. This advection can lead to changes in the vorticity distribution, affecting the intensity and structure of the flow field.

Understanding vorticity advection is important in meteorology, particularly in weather forecasting. By analyzing how vorticity is advected by the atmospheric flow, meteorologists can better predict the development of weather systems, such as cyclones, fronts, and other phenomena. It helps in assessing the strength, location, and evolution of these weather features, contributing to more accurate forecasts and warnings.

Yes, and it´s all embedded in the dynamics of a sphere, that´s rotating for billions of years.
Each particle/molecule suffers some acceleration towards the equator through centrifugal force 🪐 and the balancing centripetal gravitation towards the polar vortices, both vectors modulated by centripetal force, topography, coastlines or butterflies.
Heating and cooling (or salinity) induce some densitity changes, affecting the height or depth of molecules´ movement.
Not to forget sun and moon for further complications...

                            Same here.
Macbook Air, the system does not register my favourite location for start-up (Pennsylvania).
It keeps on defaulting to my old favourite location from several years ago (Middle East).
