Windy launches Route Planner

Anyway, would you appreciate to export your route to eg. PDF? It is almost impossible to make route planner available at mobile phones due to the complexity of the UI and its control. But if you can export the route to PDF on your desktop and then open it anywhere... it should do the job, should not it?

I can give an opinion for the use of the Route planner only at sea. With a laptop on board, no problem to use the Route planner when you are online. If you only have a desktop computer at home, you can prepare a route planning and send the PDF to your smartphone, tablet or just print it. But it’s a one-shot and it’s frustrating if the cruise lasts more than 3 or 4 days and needs updating the weather forecast and the route.
OK for the pdf but it will only be useful for a short cruise, for a weekend for example. I understand that on the smartphone app it is not possible to develop the Route planner. But on a tablet, would it be possible, on the application or at least via the browser (same as color settings available via the browser on iPad)?
And in case there is no navigation software on board, and so no possibility to use the GPX file, would it be possible to get the coordinates of the way points on the route planner itself? -
@idefix37 Thanks for your feedback. I think we can give a tablet try. Maybe it will work. In a combination with PDF exporting it should make it easier to use.
Do you mean putting coordinates as an input to the route planner? Or getting the coordinates from route planner points? The second is done, just click "Route detail" button. The first option is not possible yet, but it could be quite easy to add. -

Fine if it could work with a tablet, I think there are quite a large number of sailors using this type of device, probably pilots too.
Concerning the coordinates, I was meaning the coordinates from route planner points. Despite I had opened several time Route detail, coordinates were probably too close to my eyes !! :-) ...Sorry, forget this crazy remark -
@marekd this feature on a tablet would be great. I just discovered it and spent over an hour trying to figure out why it wasn’t working on my iPad. It wasn’t clear to me that this is only available on a PC.
I’m a pilot in Bolivia and this would be a fantastic tool on the iPad.

For me it seems like your "speed option" is not really working. Windy (still?) behaves likes the vessel speed is infinite, meaning it is calculating the weather along the route with the forecast at the route start time. See the two screenshots. First one is the wind map at the start of the route. Second is the wind map during the route at route point #2: the weather at the current location on the map is very different from the route view.
It is also obvious by changing the vessel speed (e.g. 1kt, 10kt, 100kt, 1000kt): the weather along the route never changes.

@Flachkurbler Thank you for reporting this issue! We had an error there after last update :-( And unfortunately our tests did not recognize it... It is fixed now (still working on missing gust, will be fixed soon). Thank you and sorry for all inconviences!

@marekd, you are probably aware of it already, but I just wanted to point out that after your (unbelievable quick) fix, not only your gusts but also your other data is showing zeros after some time on the route...

I confirm what @Flachkurbler says. About 4 days after the present day, the wind speed is equal to zero and wind direction is stuck to S (wind reference set to North up).
Even if the trip departure is postponed the issue appears at same date.

Apparently today the issue mentioned above (wind speed at 0) has disappeared.
Wind direction and speed are OK.

Cool! But tell me....did you get rid of the alert option to make room for the trip planner option in the press and hold menu?

Hi there, a quick question because I couldn't find it in the thread: are the features listed also available within the app since I couldn't find it. Actually, the browser based version fulfills all my needs and I really love it. Would be great to have the same features in the app. Thank you very much for your dedication and work! Thank you all again for the route planner! It's incredibly useful.
The only thing that keeps tripping me up is that our flights are usually a circle. I can click on point A for departure and then points B and C along the way but can't then click on A again to finish the flight. I tried entering points in the search box, but that appears to support only two.
Is there a way to plan a route (flight) that starts and ends at the same point?

You can use as arrival point a location
that is nearby (e.g.4-5 km) the departure point. -
@Francfo it would be perfect. Because we always got screenshot to keep those data available.
