Mahi One starts autonomous transatlantic adventure!
The team behind a project Mahi launched their autonomous unmanned boat called "Mahi One" on July 25th.
At 9 a.m. Mahi One sailed out of the channel of Les Sables d’Olonne to begin his 7000 km journey.
The boat will cross the Atlantic Ocean from Les Sables d’Olonne, France to Point-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe and will be on the road for about 3 months. An autonomous crossing from Europe to America is a world first.
The boat is propelled by an electric motor that is supplied with electricity from the solar panels. During the crossing Mahi One will perform ocean measurements that are sent to various research institutions and take pictures of his crossing which can be viewed on the tracking page of the Mahi project.
