Second reply, sorry for taking up space - but I really like how we can keep #TeamGreta's journey onscreen in different layers, that's such a cool feature!

Yes it's normal Windy under the tracking so you can change layers, see when Greta will have bad weather arriving, or good sailing conditions, etc :)

              WINDY is everywhere :)

Brilliant and thanks for the tracker.
Question: For a non sailor can any one interpret for me, the route they are taking and the change in direction into the blue zone . I am guessing that there is less wind in the Blue zone than further north in the green and yellows, therefore easier sailing? = faster? = smoother ride?
                100% backing team Greta.

                  @Huw-Griff
For the moment they are sailing upwind (in the opposite direction of the wind but with an angle of about 40 ° minimum from this direction). When the wind direction changes, they must change course. When the track shows an angle of about 90 °, it is because they are tacking (change the side by which the boat receives the wind).
To optimize the route, it is made mainly according to the direction of the wind. Of course, they should also avoid areas where there is little wind or too much wind.
I hope this helps to understand the route.

They have changed strategy and are now sailing crosswind to bypass the anticyclone by the South. At this point of sail the speed has increased significantly

Just so that I understand the live tracker chart better.
Am I right in thinking that:
The Blue area is little to no wind.
                        Greeen is moderate wind
                        Orange is strong wind
                        Red is a storm
                        would this be correct?
                        Huw

Yes exactly. I have modified the wind layer colors for a more intuitive perception. The steps of this color scale are based on the Beaufort scale that mariners know. But every one can understand it easily.
If you like these colors, here is the way to use these settings:

@ivo this is a fabulous app. Tracking Greta is truly marvellous, but I’mm Also thankful that it’s introduced me to Windy - wish I had it when I was sailing around the Atlantic 20 years ago! Great job!

@ idefix37, thank you for the guide how to apply the colors. It's very easy to remember everything and get used to the new scheme. Besides, red and orange have been always the markers of danger, so it's being perceived intuitively indeed.
