Today on August 14th, a 16-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg begun her 3,000 miles long sail to attend a U.N. summit in New York. You can get more details about her journey in our previous coverage here, also don’t miss Windy founder’s message to Greta here.

Our friends from Team Malizia sent us some footage of Greta leaving Plymouth and heading for New York.

Whenever we breath we emit carbonmonoxit. So no carbon emission? The boat and its construction is a huge carbon print.
        Anyway,
I have been an activist for the environment for 50 years. I am 75.
I don't think it is productive when Miss Greta speaks negatively about 'they'. It does not bring them aboard to join a better world and to make efforts to change. Being change and speaking about what each can do is more productive. Speaking about what each country could consider.
The ice is melting. There is no halting. Currents will change, sealevels rise, oceans are terribly polluted. So the question is now 'what now?' Coming up with solutions not critizise specific groups or say ' it's useless to talk to Trump.' Peceful resistance and encourage others is netter than bashing.
We have to do something NOW about drinking in, eating through food and breathing in plastic particles. We can ask :' how we now deal/ adjust to climate change? What can each do? How can countries plan for this avalanch of change coming at us.
Anyway I don't want to throw more around. I personally do not see.Miss G seeing the whole pic and addressing it.
Wishing you all the utmost best.
        Cris

@cleanwater4all I think that Greta is bringing some needed publicity and attention to this matter, and as they say "All Publicity is good Publicity".

But I agree at the next step, at the next level, your thoughts do indeed have value and merit :)

Each person must accept and take some positive steps, or if this is not possible at least be content to live at the same or slightly less level to at least not add further to the problem.

I used to have a very high performance modified car. It wasn't the worst, but it wasn't the most environmentally friendly either. But I still walked and/or took the bus or train most days. And now I walk 6 days out of 7.

It's a small contribution, but it's also a daily ongoing contribution. And it certainly helps reduce inner city pollution.

Thanks for your post to the Windy Community :)

          WINDY is everywhere :)
