How to use a route planner

Unfortunately it is not possible to set different speeds, leg by leg. You can only set an averaged speed for the whole trip.
Setting speed leg by leg would be very useful for a sailing boat as the speed varies with the wind direction. -

I can create and edit routes on my mobile device, I am very fond of it (thank you for to be able to reverse the route especially). However I can not remove a saved route neither a button, menu vb. exists nor removing all waypoints discards it. How can I delete a route from my profile?
Thanks in advance

Forget my question! I've found it. Just dragging the entry to the left shows remove button. Sorry for the noise...

Hi,
Could you please explain or show step by step how to plan the route?
I have a Samsung Tablet and also a mobile phone and can't fi d the way to arrive at the status YouTube show in the picture. With my laptop no problem at all but I use the tablet for all navigations apps and just the route planner is not working properly.
Thanks in advance -

Hi, I don’t understand what you mean here above.
Anyway, the way to use the Route planner on a laptop and in the mobile app is almost similar. But the way to place waypoints is slightly different.
Tap on your screen to see the crosshairs and scroll the map to place the crosshairs at the location of your first waypoint. Then click on Distance & planning in the top banner. Scroll the map to place your second waypoint. Add this waypoint and repeat this until the end of your trip by clicking on End measurement.
Further explanations are shown here:

Hi i think there is a problem in the route planner.
if i create a route , the prediction change if i activate a velocity of boat or if is deselected.
this is wright if is considered the AWS APPARENT WIND SPEED or the TWS TRUE WIND SPEED but i think this working on the contrary. if my boat direction is against the wind, the wind speed must increase if the wind is behind and must decrease.
Furthermore, the height of the wave must not be influenced by the speed of the boat or the apparent wind because it is determined only by the true wind.
I don't know how to point this out to the programmers but currently the route forecast is not reliable.

Hello,
Sorry, I don't share your statement on the problem you are reporting.
In the route planner, Windy displays only the true wind, not the apparent wind.
Try using the Flight option with a speed of 200 kt. You will see that it is not the apparent wind. Just the wind predicted by the weather model at the boat/plane position based on the time.
And the waves are only those predicted by the wave model based on the true wind and swell.
The difference between your screenshots (speed on and speed off) is only because when the speed is off, the wind and waves are those predicted at the time of start. When you set the speed, you get the wind and waves at the different time steps of the planned trip.
The route planner is reliable as long as the weather forecast is reliable and the boat speed is accurate. This last point in the case of a sailboat is probably the one that introduces maximum error because a sailboat rarely has a constant speed like a motorboat along a whole trip. -

How can I delete a route after I've created it without having to go in and hit the x on every waypoint? I've tried hitting the x on the route planner pop-up, refreshing the page and then days later when I go to create a new route, the one from before is still there and I have to go through a tedious process to remove every step one by one. Please tell me there's an easier way! (using Brave browser on OSX)
