How to use a route planner

Yes, now the forecasts beyond 6 days are included in the Premium features, and so, are no longer free.
In medium range forecasts by global models, the model of the ECMWF is known to be the best one. But locally the other models can achieve a good performance. It depends on your location.
Then I would like to point out that further than 6 days the forecasts are less accurate and are only interesting at synoptic scale. -
Hi, I have a problem with route planner. Every time when I try to plan the route I can see on the map only waypoints and no route details are shown. Could you please advise how to display route details with weather parameters? Please see picture below.
-
@Lipa1979 Your device is being recognized as mobile, that's why you see mobile UI. Did you try different browser?
-
@idefix37 I'm a seaman and we were crossing Atlantic Ocean by rhumb line instead of great circle to avoid low pressure area

So, now have you tried to plot your route along the rhumb line as I explained to you in my previous post? that is to say in a straight line as one does on a paper nautical chart with Mercator projection? Which are your ports call?

hello!
I purchased the premium access today and unfortunately the route planner does not work neither on my phone or my computer. What am I doing wrong?Thanks in advance.
-
@andras-1
Route planner is not available in the mobile app, and therefore not on your phone.
Have you ever got Route planner on your computer. It does not work on those with a small screen size.
Could you show a screenshot ? -
Why in Distance and Planning, the direction of the wind in the wind graph does not match the direction shown in the progress graph below?
Is it because the wind map is not updated within 6 hours? -
@lrlss
Very likely because of a wrong setting of wind direction reference.
See:

@idefix37
Changing to absolute orientation also seems to have no effect -
It works perfectly for me. The wind directions in the Route planner panel are identical to those in the map.
-
@idefix37 Well, there might be something wrong with this place. At least I debugged the wind barbs and failed to guarantee the consistency of the two data. I can ignore one of them, so which would be more accurate, the wind chart above or the wind direction indication below?

I don’t think your bug is due to the location. Note I made my screenshot in China too. I suggest you make a try far in another place of the world. Let’s say in Europe, Berlin to Paris, and post a screenshot of it.
I would be more confident in the wind direction in the map than in the Route planner panel. -
@idefix37 Tested servers in both South Korea and the United States, and initial findings indicate the following: 1) It is independent of the selected language. 2) There is randomness involved, sometimes results are consistent, while other times they are not. If this is related to the loading of the wind chart, how can I determine whether the wind chart has finished loading?
-
@lrlss
Sorry I can’t give you further explanation about your issue. May be a developer can do it ? -
@lrlss Hi, could you please send short example of the route where this is happening, so I can test the functionality on the same piece and potentially forward this to colleagues?
-
@Ondřej-Šutera
A and B use servers in South Korea and the United States respectively. After refreshing, the wind map and the direction indicator below are basically consistent. Both pictures have a phenomenon that the circled local wind map is inconsistent with the wind direction indicator below. -
@lrlss Thank you for this detailed info. I will investigate it and discuss it with colleagues and let you know.

Hi,
is it possible to enter speed and the startpoint of the voyage. Otherwise it is not very helpful.
-
As a Premium user, you can access the route planner on the Windy website. You will see that it is possible to enter the average speed and the starting point of the trip. And also to choose the best departure date during the following days according to the weather forecast.
