@mbmpc ,hi,looks like a huge altocumulus lenticularis complex,, like cutlery stacked on top eachother , gives little precip (mostly virga), occurs mainly due to strong mtn winds ( adiabatics)

@Bearfrost , hi, first and foremost its important to tell which part of the world you live (country, part of country, inland ,coastal, lakeislander, mountains, arctic polar, dry desert etc)
also which models you use on windy.com
and just on behalf of windy, say that windy delivers weather forecast model data and not in-situ visual observations...(other than wind temp and precip reported by wxstations around the world delivered by you all)
because that is actually your job to do(lol)...
and fog are really a foggy forecast to bullseye, because its so local and appears with a huge risk of failforecasting on macroscale models, and strives hard even on microscale. so be the observer and accept that superdupercalculating megacomputers aint better than yourself at times ,
so become an uploader of your wx data to windy and otherwx sites.
windy is a superb deliverer of forecast models but doesnt make The Weather

@cmariepurple , hi, as a premium user ,you shouldve acces to the satelitte archive... so windy may answer better than me on that matter
( if not, zoomearth has a lot of sat imagery and also earthschool backlogs cloud cover forecasts graphics( not images)... or you could try
https://apps.sentinel-hub.com/eo-browser
that has a ton of images if youre really desperate
i bet met office has some kinda material too, an email to them might help, if its utterly important
hope this might be helpfull, i might know more sites, but ill stop here cause this is kind of advertising other weather sites)
i cannot tell how to connect your station, cause its 15 years since i sent to W.U. and cwops, which i gave up in the bitter end due to my pc's hang to hang up during the diurnal cycle .
but may i ask what wx station ( and data logging software( weatherlink etc)) you use???
good luck and happy new year

@pilotbk ,this article may show the complexity for w.m. to show accurate frontlines
https://ncics.org/cics-news/using-a-neural-network-to-detect-weather-fronts/
read meteorological litterature, study maps at different heights, where temp and thickness are very important, 550hpa is a clever start level to study if newbie and not digging in microclimate.

@jjamieallen ,extremely nice site, wish it was worldwide covrage.
thanks

@n975c ,davis, vantage pro pluss, wireless for multipel sensors development
@inAjet , hi , i live at the docks of åkrehamn, southwest nor4way, by the northsea, so our similar problem called salt is our biggest enemy so if you can afford to change an anemometer every 2 years, youll have a station for the rest of your life. go for vantage pro station, a pluss if you want solar and uv, its a bit costly but you would never regret it...wireless if you have to place a bit from your control room, otherwise cabled. though there are several advance development possibilities for further sensor connection etc with the wireless...
i wish i could feel them butterflies when that package arrives
good luck
ørjan
@inAjet where do you live?h/l,coast/innland,salty/rainy? ive had seven different davis instruments stations, and ive still got the oldest and 2nd oldest, a health enviro monitor (30 years) weather wizard at 28 and vantage pro plussin 14 years.
i think davis is superb, esp if you live in the states.
@David_E8 ,hi its a drought warning (and wind) i see, its always dry there, close to the only defined desert area of europe according too Michelin... should it be there or not,? search me... its very generalized, just like its always gale warnings where i live, karmøy,norway.
ørjan
@풍력 ,hi, is it psychrometry and absolute humidity vs dew point temp and relative humidity, or air density youre seeking.
good luck in searching, maybe someone else knows what your knot is?

@Alistair-Fraser , hi enter menu, roll down to isolines of geopotentil height above favourites, toggle what you want (4 choices) then you use your altitude button(airplane) on the main map to toggle wished altitude...
good luck

@idefix37 , hi, seems like ive the same on my pcscreen, and its a minor flaw on the gfs at 13 nov in the accumulation, just east of huesca, flats out /dissolves when zooming in.

@wintermute314 ,agree with your statement there

@Manoel-Zeferino ,yup,looks like boiling water
@Wionczky ,well observed! that is a rare occurence we see.
@performancepixel , seems like goes has gone private at the moment, theyll be back soon

right now there are an imense dust /sand/smoke steamroller of an upper level through over eastern oregon and western idaho. its cool to watch on windy visible sat, even better on other satelitte sources
have a look is my advice
b.r
ørjan
@Pieter-DeZwart ,there are 2 reasons, either there hasnt been any satelitte overpasses, and in the dark night hours fire activity are usually low and smoldering, esp in western oregon when fall sets in and reason 2 ;large frontal systems sets in, therefore clouds and fog may also obscure viirs and modis data, use other sites if need to know ASAP, i can link them here, but wont do it due to the risk of being banned doing that...
its not windys fault if you see smoke but no dot on the maps, there are hurdles even for hightech meteorology too
best regards
