    • radar islas canarias

just to inform the rest of the bunch thirsting for radar data on the beloved holiday islands, they are on the way, building three new ones that will be on the aemet site when tested and operational and probably on windy within june 2026... this will give a much better and deeper picture than what weve had till now, where ''lots'' of rain shown on the old radar maps has been virga at high altitudes that never reach ground.i just cant wait for these to come...

      best regards

    • new layers...?

i shall not cry or feel swindeled by windy , because im just a fifth wheeler on this bus, not a paying member of this weather community, but i use windy a lot and have felt the joy like a virgin each time a new layer are issued...i think im not alone sharing this thought for sure, and i cannot undervalue the power of refreshments on the layer front for all the app users, even me, the freerider for ever...

i shall not suggest any layers , because ive done that more or less since last summer in a few inputs after the great ball revolt on the ui, any sign of life from the layer developers and leading staff of this colourfilled appendix would be appreciated.

@Cua-Toi-Job hi , you sound like a moderator , well i use all the apps ive found since 2001, cant name them here risking expulsion and whatever worse to be.also having all indexes on vp 2 and weatherlink,so im not complaining other than more layers on windyll make it better, a long time since icing , turbulence and radar+ were introduced so will they premiere something new so. (hurricanes have always been shown even though they call it a layer)

      have a marvellous sunshiny day

    • RE: Historical Data

@Abdulrahmanalha ,hi use earthschool at https://earth.nullschool.net/

because they offer tons of wx models mostly gfs for 10's of years back. it is not measured data but highly valueable short forecasts at hour level at best. i use that if i wanna know the global and llocal wx data eg 12122012, a very good site to ''get the overview''

      good luck
      ørjan

p.s. sorry idefix for putting competition on your product, windy is great on forecast, but slips on the historical climatological aspect of meteorology,

    • RE: What does this towering cloud mean? A friend who lives there said it's not raining.

@mbmpc ,hi,looks like a huge altocumulus lenticularis complex,, like cutlery stacked on top eachother , gives little precip (mostly virga), occurs mainly due to strong mtn winds ( adiabatics)

    • RE: Fog report

@Bearfrost , hi, first and foremost its important to tell which part of the world you live (country, part of country, inland ,coastal, lakeislander, mountains, arctic polar, dry desert etc)

also which models you use on windy.com

and just on behalf of windy, say that windy delivers weather forecast model data and not in-situ visual observations...(other than wind temp and precip reported by wxstations around the world delivered by you all)

because that is actually your job to do(lol)...

and fog are really a foggy forecast to bullseye, because its so local and appears with a huge risk of failforecasting on macroscale models, and strives hard even on microscale. so be the observer and accept that superdupercalculating megacomputers aint better than yourself at times ,

so become an uploader of your wx data to windy and otherwx sites.

windy is a superb deliverer of forecast models but doesnt make The Weather

    • RE: Cloud History and Adding Personal Weather Station

@cmariepurple , hi, as a premium user ,you shouldve acces to the satelitte archive... so windy may answer better than me on that matter

( if not, zoomearth has a lot of sat imagery and also earthschool backlogs cloud cover forecasts graphics( not images)... or you could try

      https://apps.sentinel-hub.com/eo-browser

that has a ton of images if youre really desperate

i bet met office has some kinda material too, an email to them might help, if its utterly important

hope this might be helpfull, i might know more sites, but ill stop here cause this is kind of advertising other weather sites)

i cannot tell how to connect your station, cause its 15 years since i sent to W.U. and cwops, which i gave up in the bitter end due to my pc's hang to hang up during the diurnal cycle .

but may i ask what wx station ( and data logging software( weatherlink etc)) you use???

good luck and happy new year

    • RE: Fronts

@pilotbk ,this article may show the complexity for w.m. to show accurate frontlines

      https://ncics.org/cics-news/using-a-neural-network-to-detect-weather-fronts/

read meteorological litterature, study maps at different heights, where temp and thickness are very important, 550hpa is a clever start level to study if newbie and not digging in microclimate.

@inAjet , hi , i live at the docks of åkrehamn, southwest nor4way, by the northsea, so our similar problem called salt is our biggest enemy so if you can afford to change an anemometer every 2 years, youll have a station for the rest of your life. go for vantage pro station, a pluss if you want solar and uv, its a bit costly but you would never regret it...wireless if you have to place a bit from your control room, otherwise cabled. though there are several advance development possibilities for further sensor connection etc with the wireless...

i wish i could feel them butterflies when that package arrives

      good luck

@inAjet where do you live?h/l,coast/innland,salty/rainy? ive had seven different davis instruments stations, and ive still got the oldest and 2nd oldest, a health enviro monitor (30 years) weather wizard at 28 and vantage pro plussin 14 years.

i think davis is superb, esp if you live in the states.
