One of the features I love about Windy is how you can display the forecast information as a map instead of pulling the forecasts for multiple locations. I have noticed though that these maps are not very accurate and don't actually represent the forecasts at various locations. An example of this that I captured was a recent trip to the 4 corners area. I looked at the rain accumulation map to see how much rain we would get over night on the 11th. Based on the map, there was no rain, everything was further north. Clicking on the 4 corners though and pulling up a forecast for that locations showed pretty significant rain overnight, which ended up being true.
Is there a reason why the maps don't represent the forecasts? My assumption was the map was just the visual representation of the forecast, but in many cases it tell a completely different story.
