I just learned about windy.com. Have tried it on Windows 10 Edge browser and BlackBerry browser on PassportSQW100-4/10.3.3.2163. The mobile site is great on the BlackBerry. Only issue is I don't want the app and I would like to remove the app download button. An option or setting to do that would be great.

The forecast changing with every update is the nature of weather forecasts. It is probability, not truth. Reducing the frequency of updates just translates to the last forecast being out of date for longer.

Are you looking for a definition? If so, here is the deal. Atmospheric air contains water vapor. There is a limit to the amount of water vapor that air can contain, which depends on pressure and temperature. When the amount of water vapor contained is at the limit, we say the air is saturated. Dew point is the temperature at which the will become saturated. As air cools below its dew point, moisture condenses to form liquid water.

Accuracy refers to how well the measurement or prediction matches the observation. For a weather forecast, a model is accurate not because it predicts a single future perfectly, but because it correctly characterizes which futures are more and less likely. Accuracy is not improved by simply reducing the frequency of forecasts, it is achieved by improving the modeling.

Your question using the precipitation example is simplistic. All you need to do is look at different models and different weather forecast sources to see that not only is there time variability with a given forecast, but wide disagreement between sources. Do you make your information more accurate by picking one forecast and reducing its update frequency?

To the general point of your question, I'll use my own example. In the colder months I'm concerned about daily low temperatures. I've learned from experience which forecast sources match the actual low temperature and the duration of the low temperature more often than not. More importantly, It boils down to a decision. Do I bring the plants in? But still, I don't view the forecast as truth? It is a guide. In the end, I factor in a margin of safety. And when it comes time to decide, I want the latest and recent forecast, not an old forecast.

@Bogan-Silver Be careful, what works for me or others may not be what works for you. Be patient and compare model forecasts to what actually happens at your location. Also note that one model may be better in some respects and another model may be better in other respects. For example, I'm usually focused on forecast low temperature during the cool seasons and tropical storms during hurricane season. And it is also possible what you observe about model forecast versus reality depends on the season. For example on that, precipitation forecasts are hit and miss in my area during seasons when rain comes from pop up storms versus more reliable during seasons when rain commonly comes from fronts moving west to east across the area.

With those caveats, when I'm paying attention to it, the ECMWF seems to be what I rely on for low temperature predictions, but I also pay attention to the iPhone Weather app. For tropical storms, also ECMWF, but I also pay attention the NOAA NHC.

I'm having the same issue as the OP.

iPhone 16 pro, iOS 26.2, Windy version 47.2.1.

The station I select manually and have marked as a favorite is at N30° 9' 8", W85° 40' 1". I am less than a mile from this station as the crow flies (1.7 km according to Windy). So far as I can tell from the stations that Windy finds, this is the closest to me. I guess I should caveat that with the fact that I've only been looking at professional stations. Perhaps there is an amateur station closer and there is some problem with it causing the widget to display no data when I select nearest, I don't know. [EDIT to add: I went back and looked. I selected sort stations by distance and this is the nearest station, according to Windy.)

I only started using this widget the other day and so do not have long term experience with it. I left the widget set at nearest for a while (an hour or two) thinking maybe it takes time to update. But when I select the station from favorites the data show immediately.

When I have selected nearest, the widget displays in red, with the Windy logo on the upper right, a "globe" type figure with a slash through it at the left in white, and No data to the right of that in white font.

I've tapped on the widget to launch the Windy app and make sure I'm logged in even though it working fine when I select a station from favorites.

I don't know what else to try as far as troubleshooting. I could delete the app and reinstall it, but I don't see the point as the Widget is working when I manually select the station. But any ideas, I'll be happy to try.

Also Macbook Air here, but running iOS 26.0.1. Never seen that before. Ideas: check page zoom in browser settings, and if not that, check zoom in accessibilty settings for the device.

I wouldn't rely on one forecast source. Personally, my top three would be the Apple Weather app, the local TV station weather newscast, and Windy, but also looking out the window before departing on the outing.

Additionally, when you say Windy, you really have options within that. You need to consider which model is best for your location and the season. And you need too evaluate that, too, as you choose the forecast sources you use. And note as well that forecasts will evolve as subsequent updates get closer to the actual time of your event.

I didn't test this when I was on iOS 26, but I just looked and it is working correctly for me on IOS 27.0. My app version is 51.2.1.

@boyawar Truly, what I do, what someone else does, has no bearing on what is best in your case. However, you should think about what you are watching. Is it the rain forecast? The daily low temperature? What? You also need to watch the models over a period of time and figure out which turns out to be closest for what you are watching.

Take into account the seasons. For example the rain forecast changes with every forecast In my location this time of year. In other months when the fronts are coming through from the west, the rain forecast is pretty reliable. In the cold months I'm looking at the forecast low, how long the low is forecast to last, and the high the next day. The ECWF is pretty good for me on the lows and high temperature, but the Apple Weather app is likewise very good, and I rely on it more for the low temperature forecast. But that is me, and what I watch.

I've been aware of this complaint but haven't followed it. But just now I couldn't get the weather picker with left click (one figure tap on track pad). I figured out that this doesn't bring up the weather picker when the "forecast for this location" is open at the bottom of the display. I collapsed that and weather picker worked as expected. This is in the web version 50.0.3 in Safari on MacBook Air. Just FYI.

Background: I happened to notice the lat and long of a weather station near me is incorrect. I checked the coordinates against the National Data Buoy website and found it is wrong, too. Long story short, the gov moved the station a short distance away after Hurricane Michael. I emailed the National Data Buoy Center and surprise they agreed and updated the their website. I checked Windy to see if it had changed and it hasn't, not yet anyway. The station is PACF1, a US Government facility. The correct location is 30°8'59" N 85°39'52" W.

Question: Where does Windy draw the station information? Should it update when the source updates? So far, I know the National Data Buoy Center and Tides and Currents, both under NOAA, give information on this station, and the coordinates match. There may be others.

@idefix37 I got that. I've set a favorite station. I've created the widget on my iPhone. Once I've done that, I have the option to edit the widget. When I first do that (edit the widget) I have an option to display either "Nearest" or "Favorites" station. If I pick "Favorites" and select station, the widget displays the data as you show in your image. That is not the problem. The problem is if I select "Nearest" the display is No data as I described above.

In short, the issue is as summarized by the OP. The widget is useable. If I select a favorite, the widget works. I'm just confused by the failure of the Nearest function. Or is that not a failure to function as intended?
