    • Request to Add 1000-500 hPa Thickness Layer and Temperature Display at 1000 hPa with Geopotential Height

      Dear Windy Team,
      Best regards,
I am [ali], a regular user of the Windy.com app and website, and I greatly appreciate the efforts you put into providing such an excellent and accurate tool for weather forecasts and atmospheric maps. The app has become an essential resource for me and many weather enthusiasts and those interested in meteorology.
I would like to suggest adding some new features that I believe would be very useful for advanced users, particularly in analyzing air masses and weather forecasting:

Adding a layer or tool for Thickness between the 500 hPa and 1000 hPa pressure levels:
This layer is very important in meteorology, as it helps identify cold and warm air masses, analyze the likelihood of snow or rain precipitation, and better understand weather dynamics. Currently, geopotential height is available as isolines, but adding a colored layer or dedicated isolines for thickness (such as the 540 dam line or others) would be a valuable addition.
Displaying temperature at the 1000 hPa level along with the geopotential height for this level:
Please add the ability to display temperature at 1000 hPa, in addition to the geopotential height isolines for this specific level. This would help in more accurately analyzing the lower atmospheric layers, especially near the surface.

I know that some of these features have been requested by other users in the forum (such as previous requests for 1000-500 hPa thickness), and I hope these suggestions will be considered in future updates.
Thank you for this wonderful app, and I look forward to seeing new improvements!
      Best regards,

    • RE: geopotential height 500 hpa &canadian model

@alidiap The global canadian model is one of the best global models now. It would be a good addition to Windy.

    • Feature Request: Add Atmospheric Thickness (1000–500 hPa)

      Dear [Team/Developers],

I would like to suggest adding a feature that displays the atmospheric thickness between the 1000 hPa and 500 hPa levels. This parameter is widely used in meteorology to analyze and forecast weather patterns, especially for identifying the potential for snowfall and tracking synoptic-scale systems.

By including this option, the program would not only become more powerful in terms of analytical capabilities but also more attractive and practical for both professional meteorologists and weather enthusiasts. Many users who rely on upper-air data would greatly benefit from having direct access to thickness charts alongside other standard parameters.

Thank you for considering this suggestion, and I hope you will take it into account for future updates.

    • RE: New sounding with radiosonde measurements

Why not provide the model with a layer thickness of 1000-500 hPa and provide the model with a layer height of 1000 hPa and its temperature always with the temperature at sea level and its pressure?

      @Ondřej-Šutera mr Ondřej Šutera

This site is very excellent, but why is the program not being developed further, for example, the Canadian model does not exist, and I love this model, and also why is it not in the selection list(thikness 500/1000 hpa), thank you
