I was wondering if it would be possible to add a layer for the sea surface temperature (SST) anomalies, i.e departure from a daily or monthly climatology over a 30-year baseline period such as 1991-2020.
For example in the case of monthly anomalies we subtract the monthly climatological mean to the monthly data.
That is of particular interest for a physical oceanographer like me, to tract marine heatwaves, for instance.
By the way the same could be done with surface temperature over land.
