Can we please have the capability of switching between street/satellite background map on the main screen? Its buried in the advanced settings, which is a pain to use - please, I like to be able to locate decent hills using contours, then switch to satellite background to see how it looks in real world!

I use another site called paraglidingmap.com and on that site the paragliding launch site icons change to reflect whether that site is flyable in the current conditions. For example, it knows for each site, what the allowable wind directions are, and also takes into account the wind strength (inc gusts) and changes the icons to a green smiley if both direction/strength are OK to permit flight from this location, or a sad face if outside acceptable thresholds. It also has pointers for landing sites. Wondering if you could use the same data on your map here to further advance the functionality of the paragliding feature?

I notice that if I select an altitude above ground level whilst the forecast panel is showing in the lower third, the numbers in the panel do not change to reflect the forecast at that altitude. This would be really nice to have.

I just realised that there is a satellite map option now - accessible under Settings, Advanced. Did this just get added? I would have thought it would have been hailed as a new feature as per the isobars feature, but seen no word of it in the publicity at all.

We do need access to this feature though on the main screen - rather than having to find it under Settings - can this be considered for an enhancement please?

On the main map, If I choose the Wind layer, then NEMS as the model, then click my area and choose the drop down to see the forecast panel at the bottom, it shows METEOBLUE correctly inside the displayed panel, but the main map has switched back to ECMWF for the wind layer. I have also seen it this morning where on opening the panel, the panel switches back to ECMWF (where the map was on NEMS initially), and the map overlay switches back to ECMWF also, but then inside the panel if I switch model, the main map overlay stays on ECMWF (so doesn't switch to the selected model I chose in the panel). Guessing some recent update has broken this sync of model!

You can see in the image below I am looking at the weather for an area in Southern Spain. If I click ECMWF I get 9mph winds in the picker flag, but click NEMS and it shows 21mph, even though the forecast shows 8-12mph. click back on ECMWF and back to 9mph.

Please can we have this accessible from the main screen? Maybe other map options too? This is the only thing about windy I found to be a negative, but for me it's a big negative. Can this please have some serious consideration?

the satellite map you found under "settings", is a static background image.
TZ is talking about a satellite overlay with realtime images
updated every e.g. 15 min (like the wx radar overlay).
Sat images may be obtained from http://en.sat24.com/en/

Next step must include lightning data

We seem to be at crossed lines then - my OP here was not about satellite weather info overlay (such as radar info), but more specifically about satellite "map" overlay - which is exactly what you get using that Settings panel option - just a pity its not more accessible from the main screen. Other Map overlay options would also be advantageous like open cycle map etc
