It sounds like those grey regions are areas with missing radar coverage. You can cross-check with satellite imagery or other nearby radar stations to track cloud and typhoon movement accurately. Reporting this to the radar data provider may help improve coverage in critical regions like the South China Sea.

RE: Being logged off every few days
This can happen if your browser clears cookies or sessions automatically. In Edge, go to Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Clear browsing data on close, and make sure cookies for windy.com are excluded. Also, try adding windy.com to your “Allowed sites” under cookies — it should stop logging you out.

RE: Is it normal for model to default to ECMWF every time?
Yes, it’s a known issue — the app often defaults back to ECMWF when launched from the widget. It happens because the widget and app use separate model preference states. Try re-saving HRDPS as your default under ‘Settings → Forecast Model’ and then recreate the widget. If it still resets, it’s a bug in the latest update — developers are aware and working on a fix.

RE: Bug Albert! Wind and Waves animation not working
Hi, try clearing the app cache and restarting your device. If the Wind and Waves animation still doesn’t appear, make sure your app is fully updated and that your device meets the animation requirements. Reinstalling sometimes doesn’t reset temporary files causing this issue.

RE: Tropical Cyclone Fina
Thank you for your feedback. We understand the concern—Premium allows closer tracking, but updates rely on official data sources, which can sometimes lag during rapidly changing conditions. We recommend refreshing the app frequently and enabling notifications for real-time alerts to stay updated on TC Fina’s status.

RE: How to recover your Windy Premium (FastSpring)
If your Windy Premium isn’t restoring, make sure you’re logging in with the same Windy account you used during purchase.
Also double-check that you’re entering the exact Order Reference code from FastSpring (format: WINDYxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxxx).
If the code still fails, contact Windy support — they can manually verify the order and link it to your account. -

RE: Does not allow to modify my alert with the following error report
Getting a TypeError: can't access property 'from', s().rangeMilliliters is undefined when trying to modify an existing alert. Happens on desktop (v47.2.1) in the alert edit screen after load — can’t save or update changes. Seems related to the rangeMilliliters function not initializing during redraw. Please confirm if this is a known regression in the latest release.”

RE: Problems after paying for a subscription
Glad you got it sorted! Deleting cookies often fixes the missing premium issue since the old session can block subscription sync. For anyone else facing this — try clearing cookies or logging out and back in after verifying your purchase email.

RE: How would you explain this weird anomaly?
It looks like a data or rendering glitch — sometimes caused by cache corruption, timing delays, or mismatched data reads between system layers. If it repeats, try clearing cache or checking log traces to pinpoint whether it’s a UI or backend sync issue.
