@marekd please re-read my post. I pointed out that I tried to edit the pasted position format to match Windy format #2 in your list, but Windy incorrectly interpreted the string (see attached screen shot). Is it conceivable the lats and longs that are < 1 deg (i.e. 0 30.00W -> -0 30..0) from equator and/ or the 0-deg meridian (i.e. a position near Cartagena, Spain) are incorrectly being converted?

i paste this position 37 55.115N 0 13.834W into windy and fix the format to match permissible windy coord formats. however, it always converts W to E. i submitted two error reports. no response. any suggestions ?
