    • What's the difference?

Between paid and logged in version and free version have the same wind screen I am looking at and the information is equally wrong at each version.
I am a pilot and looking for wind conditions on surface. While the app shows current conditions as 4 or 5 knots we actually have steady 16 knots and gusting to 22 knots winds.

I am not looking to find the exact condition with precise numbers for the current conditions but at least the difference should be negligible and not more than triple or quadruple the value shown on the app.

So, why the numbers are that wrong and where's the difference between paid and non-paid app?

    • Altitude-Altitude & Altitude...

I am a new Private Pilot and the Altitude issue still confuses me. Imagine flying a small Cessna and planning a flight from Watsonville CA to Lake Tahoe CA.
Watsonville is 100' above sea level. So SURFACE setting of Windy is ok to check the winds at the surface level.
But Lake Tahoe airport is almost at 6,300' above sea level...

So, when I want to get an idea the winds on the surface at Lake Tahoe do I need to set my slider to 6000' level or should I leave the slider at Surface setting?

    • MSL vs AGL for pilots...

I know this question has been asked by many General Aviation pilots who fly small airplanes, but not clearly answered I think.

If I am flying to an airport like Denver, which sits at 5000' above sea level, should I adjust the "altitude" slider to 5000' in order to figure out the wind predictions on the surface of that airport or should I leave that slider at "surface" setting?

So please let's clear this issue for once and all...

    • WRONG WIND DATA???

As a pilot I check the windy app and while NAM and ECMWF and GFS reporting 4kt winds on the surface, ACTUAL winds were 12kt and gusting to 16kt.

Are those data on your app presented as an estimate or just a wild guess or actually based on something ? Because it is very different than the reality out there.
