    • ECMWF forecast model vs GFS accuracy?

      I sail my boat on Barnegat Bay in New Jersey and I have noticed that the ECMWF model is consistently wrong. Yesterday and today the afternoon winds were coming from the south, or southeast, while the forecast was calling for northeast winds. Similarly today, I was sailing with south by southeast winds while the ECMWF model predicted northeast winds.

      I was puzzled by this, since I use the windy app on my phone. It was only when I got to my computer at home that I found the options for different forecast models. I wonder if certain models just work better in different geographic locations?
