Currently (at 1400 UTC 10/20/2024) the hurricane tracking function is showing both a hurricane Oscar and a tropical storm Oscar.
How can that be ? See image.

I have solved this issue.

What was causing the issue was that in the Firefox settings, I had selected the "Always use private browsing mode" option. After un checking that option the Windy "Lat Lon" setting is preserved when Firefox is closed and restarted.

Private browsing in Firefox deletes history, cookies and other site data when the session closes. Unlike some other options, the Always use private browsing mode doesn't allow the definition of exception to that rule.

Question: How does Windy identify a device? The pop up was annoying me too. In Windows 11 with Firefox use a group to open 6 Windy tabs at the start of day and I was seeing the popup on all of them. It didn't surprise me that I would the pop up after closing the browser and restarting it and / or restarting the computer because I am using the option on my VPN to change my IP (I think it does that every 5 - 10 minutes.) I think it is more secure / private, but there disadvantages like for a site where I want to check inventory at a local brick and mortar store, I always have to change the store location from the city my IP indicates to the store I want in my city.

Some more information:

I have, but rarely use the Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome browses. With these browsers, the Lat Lon setting is preserved even after re-booting. These browsers also log me in to Windy automatically even though I haven't saved my Windy password in the browser. I don't like that action. IMO if I haven't told the browser to save the Id and password it is because I don't want it to automatically log me on. Its no big deal for Windy, but I wouldn't want automatic log in to occur on sites with sensitive data.

I also got recently the Tusk browser. This browser works like Firefox. The setting is not preserved.

Some more information -

• This glitch report applies to Web application used from Windows 11 with the Firefox browser.
  To demonstrate the glitch I have to log out and close Firefox. If I log out, close the tab and restart Windy without also closing Firefox the setting is preserved.

• I primarily access Windy via Windows, but also have the Windy Android app on my phone. The setting seems to be preserved in the Android app.

I prefer to have the setting "Show Lat, Lon Grid" always On.

However unlike the other settings that I use, the "Show Lat, Lon Grid" setting is always reset to off after I log off and later log on.
