This not new, as it has been displayed for many years.
At this zoom level, you can’t get more details from the weather layer you select. This is due to the resolution of the weather models. Weather data by these models is provided on a grid of points which spacing is displayed by a distance in km. To show a nice map, Windy interpolates the values at grid points and so smooths them, giving the illusion that zooming in would give further details.
