    • How I use Windy to plan my crushing jobs and avoid weather headaches

      Hey everyone,

Just wanted to share how I use Windy on the job, since weather can really mess with our work. I’m in the mining/aggregate game, running mobile crushers, and it turns out Windy’s been a game-changer for us.

Here’s how we use it day-to-day:
✅ Rainy days = maintenance days
Nothing kills productivity like a muddy site. I check the 7-day rain forecast every Sunday, and if we see a wet patch coming, we just reschedule crushing shifts. Instead of fighting the mud, we use that time for maintenance and prep work. Keeps us on track and the crew safe.

✅ Wind direction is everything for dust control
Dust is a pain, especially when it blows toward nearby roads or homes. I check the wind map daily. If the forecast says strong winds blowing that way, we either pause crushing for a few hours or move the plant to a better spot. Saves us a ton of headaches with complaints.

✅ Storm alerts saved our equipment more than once
Last month, a sudden storm hit. Thanks to the early alert on Windy, we had time to secure everything and move the crew to safety. Without that heads-up, we might’ve had serious damage.

It’s these little checks that make a huge difference. Curious if anyone else in construction or mining uses Windy in similar ways? Would love to hear your tips!

      Cheers,
