Perhaps you could analyse the increasingly frequent "non-tropical" cyclones. In Australia, these are often called "East Coast Lows" and, recently, occasionally attributed to the terminal gype of the increasingly warming Australian East Coast Current. The recent Cyclone Alfred, which initially developed in the tropics but then spent 9 days "loitering" in "cooler" waters well south of tropical, could also be included.
