The globe view called 3D is available in the browser version.

Oh wow I just found it! Thanks!!

I was looking for it in the top right becuase that's where it was displayed in some videos showcasing the view.

In case anyone reading this hasn't found it, it's the "3D" located in one of the "mini menus" above the color scale legend in the bottom right.

In the mobile app, for each layer you choose, go the the menu to see the different models you can select and below find “About these data”. It gives information about the layer and about each model and their update time.

In the browser version the same information can be found when you click the small circled i in the bottom right corner of your screen. More difficult to find !

I see it - thanks!! Never knew that.

    • Thermals information

      After reading:

      Windy.com introduces soaring forecast

I still need some help understanding the numbers in the thermals forecast. It says "the color indicates maximum climb", and I'm guessing the little number is the height that the thermal begins. So, for example, in the forecast for Denver, CO the big number is 16,300 ft and little number is 5305 ft (image below).

      Does this mean that:

At 5305 AMSL (approx 0 ft AGL in Denver) a thermal "starts", and continues for 16,300 ft (up to roughly 21,605 ft)?

Thanks - I know I saw this explained very clearly somewhere but I cannot find it.

    • Feature improvement / request: "Wind Forecast" wind barbs to update with altitude slider

      Hello,

As the program is now, if you select a location -> view forecast -> wind forecast it will show the wind barbs for that location comparing all relevant weather models. All around the map you can also see the wind forecast for each city.

If you slide the "altitude slider" and increase altidude, the value at each city will update, but the wind barbs for each model at your selected location will still display surface wind values.

It would be great if these barbs updated with the slider so one could also quickly compare different weather models at a specific altitude.

For example: The image below shows wind barbs varing from 1-4 knots. The altitude slider is at 300 hPa and the wind at this altidude is 40-50 knots above the surrounding areas. I am suggesting to update the wind barbs with the altitude slider - so in this case one would expect the barbs to also read about 40 - 50 knots (and coming from the West).

      Thanks for your time!

    • RE: How come windy always shows this location when I'm logged in?

@idefix37 It was not but your comment led me to find a "saved route" which started at the KBED airport. Apparently this start location is treated as a favorite! I understand now thank you :)

    • How come windy always shows this location when I'm logged in?

When I'm logged in to my windy account and using the "forecasted weather" map option, windy will always show the forecast for this airport (KBED) in addition to the standard cities. When I'm logged out this is not the case.

This is an airport I frequent regularly and I'm sure it's something I did. Does anyone know how I did this? See image attached where the forecast wind for KBED airport is shown when I'm logged in, and not shown when I'm logged out.
