ECMWF is the absolute worst forecast model for my location, but everything defaults to it on the mobile app. Every time I open the app I have to manually set the forecast model, and even then the favorites icons are all in ECMWF, and when I select anything it all just reverts back. It’s a lot of unnecessary toggling every time I want to see more accurate forecast. Can we please get an option to set a custom default within the app? Thanks,

Meteoblue Default Forecast Request
This has been requested multiple times in the past, and I’m still not sure why we are unable to set MeteoBlue as a default forecast model? Could a default forecast selection maybe be added to our user settings? The suggested workaround of using the last overlay on startup just reverts to ECMWF. Ironically Meteoblue is the most accurate forecast for my region, and ECMWF is the least accurate. It’s kind of a pita to manually change this every time I open the app. Thanks!

RE: Default Forecast
@Wheats thanks, that would be an workaround. The only defaults in the widget are EXMWF, GFS and ICON though and when I open the widget the app opens to, no surprise, ECMWF regardless though. It would still be nice to have the default forecast feature built into the app. I also understand Meteoblue is forecast only so would require additional setup for a separate forecast and map layer defaults. It would be icing on the cake to be able to customize them both. HRRR is a close second to Meteoblue for my location though so I’d be happy just not having to manually toggle out of ECMWF all the time.

RE: Default Forecast
@evolab there’s already a custom startup layer and location option in user settings. This would be a great place to add settings for default forecast models.

RE: Wind Altitude
@idefix37 Thanks! Seems obvious when you put it like that!

Wind Altitude
I still prefer to see a list of layers rather than the icon format, but now I'm seeing feature loss such as the altitude adjustment for the wind layer. Is it just me, or is this missing now?

RE: Default Forecast
@Ondřej-Šutera thanks for the response! It would be great if when I set the forecast model in the display settings that it stays as the default for everything. Even better would be if the favorites previews displayed the selected model, and when you select a location it also uses the selected model. It would also be great if this setting was saved in the app whenever I open it. For my location Meteoblue and HRRR are the most accurate, especially for precipitation. In order to see those forecasts I have to manually go to the location and change the forecast model every time.

Default Forecasts
I understand ECMWF is a paid commercial offering, but it is the absolute worst model for my location, and everything seems to default to it on both the app and the website. Regardless of which model I select, summaries for all of my favorite locations are all in ECMWF until I navigate to them. It would be great if we could select preferred forecast models for visualization layers as well as for locations (ie, have HRRR as the default map layer, and METEOBLUE for individual locations and favorites).
As a side note for setting default layers, I prefer to see high altitude wind, but it resets to the surface layer every time I open the app.

Default Forecast and Map Layer
Hello, this has been suggested before but it would be super helpful to be able to set more specific defaults for map layers and forecast displays in the app.
Example: Setting Meteoblue as the default forecast display and ECMWF as the default map display. Also being able to set the wind altitude that is displayed on startup rather than defaulting to the surface layer every time.
Most of these options are easier to setup on the desktop version , but they need to be manually reset every time the app is opened since those preferences aren’t saved in the “last overlay”.

RE: Meteoblue Default Forecast Request
@idefix37 right on, guess I just don’t really use the widget since I’m primarily comparing forecasts between saved locations. If setting the default in the widget opened the app with Meteoblue being displayed in my favorites I would just open windy that way though.

RE: Meteoblue Default Forecast Request
@idefix37 thanks that makes sense. If Meteoblue can’t be used as a map layer, would it be possible to set it as the default for favorites and point forecasts?
