RE: Which weather model for Japan should we add next?
@idefix37 JMA was the first place I went to regarding researching models for Japan. LFM has only 10 hours of forecast so I was thinking more about using MSM.
Final choice depends on demand though, as LSM has much finer grid (2km vs 5km of MSM) -
RE: basic wind forecast different from animation
@gavin-q Consider picker just a preview tool, detail forecast is much more precise. When zooming, for example, picker data change quite a lot as different data tiles are used.
Example (speed and direction changes):
closest:
further away:
far away:

RE: Current data are temporarily not available
Unfortunately, Copernicus prolonged data outage. No exact date is given, only that data should be back by end of December. We will monitor the situation and get forecast back ASAP

RE: Proposal: hierarchically organized presets
@Flachkurbler I believe most of the setting you mention are stored in the URL so saving them as bookmarks might work (on PC or mobile browser).
Here are the layers and settings you mention:- pressure with pressure lines over Europe: https://www.windy.com/-Pressure-pressure?pressure,45.352,11.843,5,i:pressure
- temperature at 700hPa with pressure lines over Europe: https://www.windy.com/-Temperature-temp?700h,temp,45.352,11.843,5,i:pressure
- cloud coverage from ICON-D2 model over Alps: https://www.windy.com/-Clouds-clouds?iconD2,clouds,47.528,13.552,7
- wind from ICON-D2 at 1500m (850hPa) over Alps: https://www.windy.com/?iconD2,850h,47.528,13.552,7

RE: Can you track a yacht on yellow brick and over lay in windy?
@maxi15 if yellowbrick supports exporting the track to KML or GPX file, you could upload it manually to see it on the map: https://www.windy.com/uploader

RE: Écart considérable entre prévision par 3 h ou par 1 h
@idefix37 There is something seriously wrong with merging AROME and ECMWF. Notice that after 5 days (that's when forecast step of ECMWF changes from 1h to 3h) forecast goes haywire. It is more visible with 1h forecast, but 3h forecast is wrong too. Multiple days (notice temperature going up and down - "red hills") get mashed up into one. We will investigate and fix this, thank you for the report.

1-hour step

RE: Current data are temporarily not available
@Skip-Freedom According to Copernicus, forecast data is expected to be back up and running by next Tuesday; on 2022-12-13

RE: Rain accumulation: 1m this is equal 1000mm, not 100mm
@Wojciech-Dobrowolski The scale is non-linear and pink color in default scale corresponds to 500mm. See color settings for rain accumulation below

RE: False Storm Radar
@502893 We have disabled weather radar in Cuba that gives false positive readings almost constantly

RE: New layout of reported data by weather stations.
Hi @idefix37, I'll try to answer as many of your questions as possible.
This is what airport station detail looks like in my browser (chrome-based)
The column graph seems to display the precipitation amounts, but there is no scale when it is an airport wheater station
True, hovering over the time of observation shows all its values in the info window above the chart. In my screenshot, it shows
3mm
What is the meaning of the letters like +SHRA, RA, ...
Those are weather phenomena codes used in METARs, for example. See more info here. The info window above the chart "translates" the code to human readable form, in my example
+RA
is Observed weather:heavy rain
.What is the meaning of the blue colour and the purple colour?
I believe it is the same as in meteogram (blue rain, purple snow), but I might be wrong.
Shouldn’t the Rain and the Pressure lines be interchanged?
Most likely yes. I'll raise this question further.
A word is missing : Flight rules and ….?
Looks like some alignment/crop issue. My screenshot shows
Flight rules and visibility
. Are you perhaps using zoom in the browser other than 100%?What is the meaning of the 3 small vertical bars
Again most likely cropped letter
m
(meters) that shows in my screenshot correctly. -
RE: radar old data
Hi @rhunton, thank you for reporting this. It is interference from Cuban Casablanca radar. I'm disabling it

RE: Radar anomalies : Do you know what create this weird shapes from the radar?
Hi @Caefix, you are right, this seem to be some unusual data from Danish DMI.
While the data usually looks like this
it looked like this for a while (probably lightning detection)
Data were wrongly interpreted as reflectivity with very high value which resulted in spots you noticed.
We'll try to incorporate some detection method to prevent this data from being displayed

RE: ACCESS Wind accumulation error
@Jonbom
Fixed. Wind accumulation should work from reference time2024-03-14T12:00:00Z
and further (current reference time is2024-03-14T00:00:00Z

RE: ACCESS Wind accumulation error
Hi @Jonbom, thank you for reporting this issue, I will look into this.

RE: Radar anomalies : Do you know what create this weird shapes from the radar?
Hi @Caefix, looks like Mumbai radar from IMD does show reflectivity though

RE: Problema radar meteo
Hi @Axel84acilia, our source for Italy is DPC. It looks like their radar sites around Rome are currently offline:
Part of the area is covered by MeteoFrance radar in Corsica:
Which results in partial area of no-data south of Rome which is usually covered:

RE: why did windy stop radar Barbados
Hi @eaudree96, thank you for your suggestion, but this currently isn't on our TODO list

RE: Shannon radar
Hi @alanduckers, we're currently using images from met.ie as source of our radar data. That is the reason why it is cut off from the south. Last time I checked (a month or two ago), the Shannon radar was not available from met.ie open-data platform.
It looks like it is available now so we might switch to it so we get rid of the ugly missing data. Thank you for letting us know.
