To me, this looks like most of these changes are no new features to premium users but instead features removed from the free version.
Am I getting this right?

RE: I do NOT like the new interface :-(
It is quite impressive to see (once again) how a change in management can make all the difference in the success of a product.
While the founder of Windy was a pilot and kitesurfer in need of a great weather tool, it is very obvious that the new leadership is not using their product for any real purpose, like i.e. flight preparation. Otherwise they would have figured out on there own, that the new UI broke the tool.
But as they already demonstrated with the app changes: they will not listen to the users.
So it is now time for me to move on. -

to make Windy easier to use when you know how to use it.
Ok, so now it is me who does not know how to use your great, new UI. And it is not you who broke a perfectly working system.

RE: Windy launches high-resolution forecast model ICON-D2 (2.2km)
Dear Ivo and team,
thanks a lot for integrating this modell.
DWD writes
"Based on model runs at 00, 06, 09, 12, 15, 18 and 21 UTC, ICON-D2 provides new 27-hour forecasts every 3 hours. The model run at 03 UTC even covers a forecast period of 45 hours."Currently, Windy tells me

Next update expected at: 03:28 PM, in 0h 58m 5s
Update interval: 6 - 7 hrs

Best regards, Daniel

RE: Proposal: hierarchically organized presets
@Filip_K Wow, thanks. I must have been blind - I never noticed that.

RE: Tiles not loading?
Obviously it is very unlikely that there are "no clouds" next to a voxel of low cloud base.
I assume that it is either a renderer error, or (more likely) an artefact of the model output that clips all clouds that are < 50% coverage.
Either way, the usability of this data layer for VFR flight planning is very limited.

Wow, that was fast. Thank you very much indeed!

Proposal: hierarchically organized presets
Dear Windy team,
Here is a feature I am deeply missing within Windy:
I like to call it hierarchically organized presets. The problem:
When I am preparing a certain activity, like sailplane flying in the eastern alps, sailing on my local lake, a transatlantic IFR flight etc etc, I have a certain way how I proceed with my weather briefing.Lets pick the sailplane flying:
First I want to get an idea about the large scale weather situation.
1.) Zoom and pan to see whole Europe, select ECMWF, select pressure, switch on pressure lines
2.) same zoom, same model, select air temperature, select 700hPa altitude
Then I analyze the local weather
3.) Zoom and pan to alps, select local weather model, select cloud coverage, no pressure lines
4.) same zoom, same model, select wind, select 1500m altitude
5.) etc etcI spend almost the same time choosing the particular settings in Windy as for the actual analysis of the presented data. Even worse, I have to remember the best order and particular settings for my weather briefing. And these might change significantly depending on the activity.
Proposal:
It would be great so save ALL settings for a particular rendering and store them in a named dataset. These datasets I would like to order in a hierarchical structure, move them around, change the order, delete them. I would like to easily recall these sets, so I can do a quick, structured weather analysis depending on my activity. Is this already possible, maybe with external plugins?
Would this be something you might want to implement? -

RE: Tiles not loading?
Low clouds are clouds in the 0-7000ft layer. If I use this for VFR go/no-go decisions, I will never go flying again.

Tiles not loading?
When working with some layers of ECMWF, like Cloud Base, it looks to me as if some tiles are not loading.
Is this part of the model data or a windy bug? Maybe a developer can comment.
Thank you very much in advance.

@justinlimbo Model looks really good.
We will implement it
Do you have an ETA on the ICON-D2 implementation? Thanks :-)
