It is well known that global weather models CANNOT predict accurately wind speed near the center of tropical phenomenon. It has been discussed here many times as shown in the FAQ:

Then you said ´your wind gauge shows only 34mph´. You may be referring to these weather stations showing 29 and 31mph now:

This weather stations show the mean wind which is the averaged speed over 10 minutes, while the Saffir-Simpson scale used for hurricanes and TS refers to 1-minute wind speeds.

BTW this weather buoys do belong to Windy :)
