@idefix37 No I think he means the satellite map view, not the satellite cloud view. We used to be able to zoom in close, now we can't. Even with compatibility mode turned on and a premium account.

@Ondřej-Šutera Yes, US. I'm assuming the map supplier has deemed a high resolution close satellite zoom not necessary and has reallocated that data space elsewhere.

@Ondřej-Šutera I am in Ohio, US, and I access Windy from a custom desktop PC. I am sure the detailed zoom is not purposefully hidden, I'm guessing it's more of a data size issue, being as a detailed satellite close zoom level is quite high resolution. It seems as if either Windy or its satellite map supplier is assuming such a high resolution satellite zoom level is not necessary for a weather application and has disabled it to allocate data space elsewhere. It's not a huge dealbreaker for me, I still use Windy for other things, just kind of disappointed the one thing I liked the most isn't there anymore, especially after I purchased another premium year. It is what it is, I can still access the data I need, just with a slightly more added inconvenience.

@Ondřej-Šutera It's access across the whole map. The background satellite map view will not zoom in close like it did 6 months ago. When I click on a specific rural airstrip, it still gives me a side menu with information, but even the map leaflet will not display the close-up satellite view of the airport like it used to. Of course I get a link to Google maps, but this is inconvenient because Windy could overlay wind direction over the detailed satellite image which I've grown accustomed to. Graphics acceleration setting has no effect. I've used WIndy for years, and I understand that at some point you have to charge for more specific data. But I assumed a close-up background satellite map would also be included in that data. Rather disappointing this feature has gone away even under premium.

Before premium options became prevalent, we used to be able to zoom in close on the background satellite map view. Being a pilot, I like that every rural airstrip is depicted, but I need to be able to zoom in close on them to get the runway orientation compared to current wind direction. I was sold on a premium account hoping this would work, but it still doesn't. Please allow us to zoom in close on the background satellite map as this is really the only thing I'm paying for.
