I second @mikemarrah suggestion. Currently i'm using "My Lightening Tracker" app with a radius set to about 25km while cycling and I find this feature/alert not just convenient but important. Could you give us an update on whether & when this feature might be available?

Seconding "thumbnail view of layers is much harder to use than previous versions with just the narrow band of icon)."
Those large thumbnails do not add any value, just clutter what used to be a predictable rich navigation system.
