@aderobinson check https://fastseas.com for routing with windy.com weather visualizations.

RE: Currents...wrong data ??
The OSCAR source data is provided in a 20NM grid and typically has gaps at coastlines and in shallow bank areas. @meteo-GR, I think you are right - that the interpolation in windy.com visualization is creating artifacts that are not supported by the source data. See the comparison below:

RE: Love Windy? Hack Windy. Contributors Wanted
Hi @ivo - Stripe will accept payments from users anywhere - but they have a limited number of countries that you can register your business from, and the Czech Republic is not among them yet.
https://stripe.com/globalIt's the death and taxes conundrum. Maybe you need to do a road trip to Luxembourg ;)

RE: Love Windy? Hack Windy. Contributors Wanted
Hi @ivo, regarding donations, I would recommend leveraging existing facilities and frameworks such as:
https://www.patreon.com
https://www.paypal.com
https://stripe.comPlayers such as these already handle all of the security and compliance aspects of handling credit/payment cards. I think all of them handle a wide collection of countries and languages.
I think the implementation with windy.com would be windy-specific rather than some new open source project. But perhaps I'm not looking at it the same way you are.
I'm willing to help any way I can. I've used stripe in my own project - so I have some first-hand knowledge there; and have some prior experience with paypal and patreon - although as as standalone services.
Cheers,
Jeremy -

RE: Windyty will use new name: Windy
@ivo ahh but is that pronounceable in Czech ?

Ocean currents
Hello - a couple feedback items concerning currents:
-
when I show the "currents" layer, the forecast model/source is shown as either "ECMWF WAM" or "NOAA Wavewatch 3", but I think the actual source of data is "NOAA OSCAR".
-
can you add the NOAA Global RTOFS model for ocean current, in addition to OSCAR?
Thanks,
Jeremy -

RE: Problems with embed with loading sources
@jcaceres well for http://fastseas.com , I hacked together a temporary fix. I created my own variants of the windyty API javascript files, boot.js and api.js. The issue is with the domain name shift from windyty.com to windytv.com. Looks like they started doing redirects today - which I think is tripping the AJAX calls the API is making. I updated the domain names in the API javascript.

RE: Windyty announces public API
I am encountering odd windyty layer issues when executing map.fitBounds() during map initialization. I suspect it's some kind race issue as the behavior is inconsistent. Is there an event I can listen to that will tell me when windyty initialization is complete? so that I can wait before executing fitBounds()? or is there a method I can call to force re-initialization of windyty given the current map state (center+zoom)?
The issue I encounter are:
- windyty weather layer does not match map zoom level
- windyty weather layer does not update when panning or zooming the map - like it's in a broken state.

RE: Windyty announces public API
Hi Ivo - I've switched to v2. Looks good. Thanks for making more overlays available too.
Cheers.

RE: Can we use pictures, animations or videos from Windy in our TV, webpage, newspaper, project...
@Tex be sure to check out http://www.fastseas.com/, which combines sailing routing with windyty visualization :)

RE: Can I track a boat with windyty?
I've built a sail routing app that uses windyty to display the routin solution:
http://www.fastseas.com/it's not a tracker, and it's not a forecaster, but it does compute recommended route given the forecast weather conditions along the route...
