    • How to turn off "my location" expanding circle

Ever since the unfortunate new UI, there's been an expanding circle at the location designated by my ip address. It's annoying and serves no purpose for me. I tried to find a way to change the location to somewhere off the screen, but I couldn't. Changing my profile location also didn't work. Setting it to GPS from IP designated, also no workee.

So is there a way to turn this thing completely off. I don't need to be reminded of my location and as I said, it's very annoying.

    • Hurricane Tracker page takes up 50% of screen...for what purpose?

On my desktop Windy, clicking the hurricane icon produces good hurricane tracking information. But it is cramped into the right half of the screen and difficult to view. The informational left half of the screen is mostly wasted space and can't be minimized or size adjusted. If I "X" out the hurricane tracker, to regain the weather map screen space, all the onscreen hurricane information disappears. There are currently three hurricanes in the east Pacific and I'd like to see them all without having to zoom out so far that they are tiny.

Since the recent upgrade/changes, actual weather map screen space has taken a back seat with more and more windows ( four tool bars , wIndy logo, premium link, profile icon , timer scroll bar, misc text links ) obscuring the main reason we visit Windy...ie: to see the weather map, have you forgotten this? It's almost arrogant that you would let your hurricane tracker section take up half the screen space.

I can only suggest you provide a way to turn all these intrusions off and on. I hope you can do this before you turn Windy into another Wundermap and lose your viewers like they did.

    • RE: How to turn off "my location" expanding circle

Sorry for the delay answering...forgot about this request.

I don't know what details you need, but I'm using a desktop and there is a Search Location window but not a Find My Location one that I can see. Putting a different city in this window takes me to that city on the map, but when I return(by moving the map) to my Los Angeles location, the location circle (with it's annoying animation) is still there. And unless I zoom way in to the location, the animation obscures part of the map nearby. Which can be a problem if there is a rainstorm passing over this area and I can't see the radar image properly.

Maybe it's just me, but I find it incredibly annoying and it attracts my eye attention away from other parts of the map. Is there no way to permanently move it to another part of the radar map so it is out of sight? Or to turn it off completely. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks for checking this out. The 1024x768 resolution is the most comfortable for my eyes, so I'll have to stick with it... and I can either change the resolution or use the element blocking solution when I need to alleviate the problem.

I have two computers, both using 22" wide screen Samsung Syncmaster monitors (one is model S224460, the other is 220wm) both set at 1024 x 768 resolution.

    • RE: Hurricane Tracker page takes up 50% of screen...for what purpose?

@Ondřej-Šutera I have a png screenshot that will show the near 50% screen space I mentioned. I've tried to attach it with the image link icon...see below. I'm using a Dell Optiplex 9020 i7 running Windows XP sp3. I view Windy on various browsers that work with WinXp. Firefox 52esr, Serpent 52 (FF 78), 360Chrome 13.5(Chrome 88), and others.

I did accidentally trigger the mobile mode yesterday, and found the hurricane tracker in the vertical mode that you mentioned. It was better but there was still too much wasted screen space and I think it could be much condensed and still present the same information. I also accidentally triggered the thumbnail mode with the color icons (radar, wind, etc...). I don't know how I triggered these two modes so I can't duplicate them at will.

I did find a solution to the problem(s) I was complaining about. I turn on the hurricane tracker, and then trigger an element blocker extension. That removes the left side hurricane tracker and also all the elements on the screen...but leaves the hurricane graphics. I'm left with a nice clean weather map with the hurricane track. Another click of the element blocker and all the screen space blocking items come back(tool bars, etc...). It's a nice solution.

    • radiation monitoring in the USA?

I like the new radiation monitoring but there don't seem to be any reporting stations in the USA. Are they on a different network that you don't have access to?

    • can I save my current layout?

I seem to remember a "save" option sometime in the past, where I could save the current layout/overlays so that each time I started Windy.com I would have my preferred layout present. Am I imagining this, or is there still a way to "save"?

    • webGL error message

"It seems that radar failed. Radar uses webGL technology, that can occasionaly fail on some devices.
What can you do? Update your browser or Windy App to the latest version. And try again please"

I can't access the radar overlay...this error message keeps popping up. I've seen it in the past, but have mostly been able to use Windy and the radar overlay without this problem. Is this just a random error/bug that will go away eventually...it's lasted a few weeks so far. I'm using FF 52.9 ESR, WinXP, and can't update it past this version. Is there a relevant setting I can adjust, or something I can install to take care of this problem?
