Completely agree… we need the old weather picker back. To the devs: stubbornly stating “we unified the UI, so you’re stuck with it” is a piss poor defense for what is a big step backwards in usability.
Will definitely not renew my premium subscription if we’re stuck with the new “unified for mobile” UI.
As a sailor, I use the app multiple times a day for trip planning and also to anticipate bad weather that we need to find protection from. One thing that would be a HUGE help would be if you can add the wind gusts on the Compare Forecasts display.
Ideally show the wind just like you already do on the Wave&Tide display. See attached screenshots…

“Compare” is super helpful, but it would be SO much better if it included wind GUSTS. I started a separate thread with that (easy-peasy) feature request.

@ben-grainger hi Ben. Many people have reported this problem… myself included… but the Windy team refuse to believe they have a bug and therefore aren’t trying to fix it.
@korina I checked settings, and I already have precise location enabled for Windy. However, here’s a clue…
I had first opened Windy, and as usual, it started in the wrong location (the startup location changes.. it’s not always in the same spot, but it is never on my true location). Then, when I went to check settings, I saw this (see attached screenshot). The gray location arrow means that Windy has used my location in the past 24 hours, but has not used it “recently”. That is, Windy did not access my location when I opened the app.
It’s a bug.
@korina my iPad DOES have “access to GPS”. It has an accurate GPS fix, which I am using frequently for navigation. The problem is that WINDY does not use this location when starting up.
@korina I just tried it, and find location seems to work correctly (accurate position) in weather radar mode. Still not working, ever, at startup however.
As I mentioned, a “previous location” (and ideally, zoom) startup setting would be really helpful!
@korina I just tried setting to determine location by IP, and the startup location is still very, very wrong (by several thousand miles).
I am on IOS 14.7.1, Windy version 31.1.0
Startup location “use GPS” never works correctly (yes, location permissions are ON while using; Windy thinks I am in Texas, when I am actually in Nova Scotia).
I am constantly traveling by boat. It would be most convenient if Windy could startup centered on the same location I was viewing in the “previous session”. Ideally the zoom would also be the same. This would avoid the hassle of repositioning and re-zooming at EVERY startup, and prevent needlessly loading data over very slow internet connection for the wrong location.
