    • Lightning but No Thunder Circles

There have been times when I would get circles emanating from lighting strikes on the radar layer to show the thunder as it travels. But that hasn't been happening for me as of late.

I go to an area with active lightning and as new strikes occur there are no thunder circles.

Why is this? Do i have to turn something on?

I use the desktop and IOS apps for ipad and iphone.

    • RE: Heat Index Heat Advisories

@Mayamacane I couldn't agree more, and while your at it add windchill since that's similar in cold weather.

These layers seem to be a matter of simple math based on the data that is there already.

      I'm surprised it's not already a layer.

    • RE: Observation vs Forecast Hard To Read

@idefix37 I see what your saying there but it looks like the forecast model is a footnote on the popup (since it's below the row) -- not a mark of which line is which.

So if i go into this a month from now (or first time users), I'm going to first have to try and figure out which row is actual and which row is forecast.

A more proper way to display this would be to have the label on the row -- just like you do when you're explaining it in the how-to section of the documentation. This eliminates the need to have to find documentation to get the question answered. There's tons of free space to be able to include the label as the popup only occupies a small part of the screen.

From Your documentation (why not just have this type of label on the row so you don't need the doc?):

Think ease of use please. I mostly use the website.

    • Observation vs Forecast Hard To Read

The "Observation vs Forecast" Feature is hard to read for causal users who don't use it that often. There are two rows but no indication which one is actual and which one is forecast.

I'm sure if you use it every day you'd remember but I won't and every time I go to use it, I'm going to have to figure it out all over again.

Labeling the rows seems like it would be super simple and handy.

    • Any chance we can get a wind chill layer?

      Re: Wind Chill

It's super cold in the United States and windy as heck right now.

It sure would be nice to have a wind chill layer.

This was recommended before but wanted to give it a bump...

    • Weather Radar - Odd Brown Colors

On the weather radar I noticed brown colors that seemed to be producing a lot of lightning during animation.

They don't tend to move like the weather system.

      What are they?

    • Satellite Types Appeared To Be Labled Wrong

When looking at the satellite layer, the "Blue" type appears grey and the Visible type appears blue. It seems like the labels on these two types should be switched.

    • Suggestion: Hurricane Ensembles

You've got a great hurricane tracker now that has a the flexibility to show different models.

It would be great if one of those models were ensemble's or Spaghetti plots from different simulations.

I find it difficult to get a good source for those, especially layered into other aspects of weather like pressure, sea temp, etc..

Just wanted to say I agree. This needs to be added. It's neat at first but unnecessary especially if you're looking at a large area.

It eventually figured out my subscription expired and showed it on the windy interface. I no longer need advice.

    • Renewing is Confusing - Need Guidance

I originally purchased Windy Premium on fastspring without renewal.

It just expired 9/1 and I never received any messages to renew.

When I go into fastspring there is no "Subscribe" or Renew option.

      The interface is pretty clumsy.

If i renew in the IOS store will the price be the same and will I be able to access from the web?

If not, how do i renew in fastspring?

    • RE: New Premium Widget

This isn't working on the iphone. I just have a "Open the windy app" which is already open.

It's just a red screen. Even after some time with both of them open.

When you click the little arrow circle it just opens the app instead of refreshing the data in the widget.

I'm trying to add the 2nd widget in the list. (Premium Forecast Widget)

    • RE: New Multimodel Hurricane Tracker

      @korina Awesome. A welcome feature.

I'd like to see a drag feature where i can move the actual hurricane by dragging my thumb over it on the screen.

      Can you work on that?

      LOL

    • Suggestion: Maps Are Great But You Can't Use them For Hiking

I've been noticing that Windy's base map has amazing park trails.

      Hiking and weather go hand-in-hand.

But when I use the app, i cannot get an updating location on where I am, so i can't take advantage of the cool map that's right before my eyes.

It would be great if I could zoom in and see myself on the trail and have it update in real time. Then, not only could I use that to help navigate, but with the radar layer on I could see approaching precipitation. A little arrow would be nice too, so I could see which way I was heading.

Seems like this would be a pretty straightforward improvement.

Hope you consider. This would give you a new way to promote your tool too. You could tout it as a tool to help you boat, hike, run, etc.

You'll notice here, that my position isn't on the map.

Note: I have given windy permission to use my exact location in the phones settings.

I'm looking for things like when my premium subscription expires, payment methods etc.

Where is that? I can't find it in the interface.

    • Radiation Monitoring Near Chernobyl

Last night two fires broke out in the woods surrounding the Entombed Chernobyl reactor in the heart of Ukraine.

Fire fighters were prevented by Russian Soldiers from putting the fire out.

The issue with this is that the soil is still full of radiation and the radiation gets absorbed by the trees. It makes it's way into the leafs. The fallen leafs then become radioactive. Each leaf is not dangerous but collectively they carry a massive amount of radiation.

A full blown Forrest fire in this area could be a world affecting event -- releasing all that radiation back into the air.

Windy is my go to resource for watching this. You can tell which way the wind is blowing and if radiation levels are rising.

      Thank you Windy!!

    • RE: Windy Radar Only Shows Heavy Precipitation

@korina You should do more than just consider it. If it's the provider who's giving you the radar's fault, then you should get on their case.

It was raining by me tonight. Windy showed clear skies. To me, Precipitation is more important than the wind about 90% of the time.
