    • RE: Wind colour scale needs to go higher (for jet stream)

@chis Scales can be changed in settings.

Click on 0_1519108290029_triple bars.png in the upper left corner of the screen and choose Settings.
      0_1519108405644_Ckick on Settings.png
Scroll down and the second to the last option is Modify Layer Colors. Click there to get the display of:
      0_1519108546463_Colored Overlays.png
You can choose any item, change its value, change colors or add/remove items to customize nearly everything displayed on overlays. The graphic above shows feet but yours will display whichever display you have chosen. Have fun!

    • RE: Precipitation type - newly added

My guess is having lived in a northern part of the US in the past, we called it sleet. The difference is raindrops fall but freeze before hitting the ground. Hail bounces around up in the air adding layer and layers. Sleet is a cold weather issue and hail is a warm weather issue.

    • Weather Channel Reporter Caught In FAKE Hurricane Florence Segment

Check out the video of Mike Seidel of the Weather Channel as he struggles to keep his balance during a faked Hurricane Florence segment. He clearly is struggling to keep his balance in the "fierce" wind until we see 2 guys in the background casually walking by not affected by the supposed fierce wind at all. Note in the upper left corner of the screen that the wind was only 29 MPH. A Weather Channel statement said he was tired and on slippery grass. Of course pavement was only a foot or two away from him. It is incredible that Mike Seidel and the Weather Channel faked this segment given all the actual severe weather in the area.

Shame on Mike Seidel and the Weather Channel.

Take some time and enjoy all the spoofs that have been posted already on YouTube.

    • RE: This is the most inaccurate weather site

I just checked every stat and screen I could for San Diego, the area I live in, and all of them were correct, spot on. So respectively, I disagree with you. If there is some place with bad data, you should document it, take some screen shots and post them here for the programmers to check out.

    • RE: Hate new colour scheme

@coll51 You can change any color on any overlay in the settings. Click on the 0_1519109973042_triple bars.png and select Settings.
      0_1519109996458_Ckick on Settings.png.
Scroll to the bottom of settings and find Modify Layer Colors. . You will get a window like below:
      0_1519110095282_Colored Overlays.png
You can then use the pull down menu and choose any overlay. By clicking on the color chart, you can add, delete, and/or change any color to something more pleasing to you. WARNING!!! . You may loose several hours of your life changing items to your liking. LOL! I know I have.

    • RE: Suggestion weather archieve

Weather history is a frequent request for Windy. My understanding is that it is a much bigger and more difficult project than most people realize. They are looking for possible solutions but right now they are focusing on some money making projects to help pay the bills. If they cannot pay the bills, Windy might not be free to everyone. Check out the thread at https://community.windy.com/post/5645.

This morning when I logged into the Windy Community, the header on the page was messed up. I have a screenshot but for some reason the Windy Community says: ERROR . You do not have enough privileges for this action. Here is a Dropbox link to the pic:

I get the same problem with Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Opera. Must be an issue with the Forum software.

You should see a set of bars (like above) at the lower right corner of the screen. Just click and/or keep clicking the lowest one (probably where you see the mm display right now) and eventually inches will display.

    • RE: Windy Not Working on Firefox

Is it possible that you have the elevation set to something like 9000m/300hPa? When I do that I get a completely purple picture in Opera and Firefox.

At the lower right of the screen, just keep clicking on the multicolor ribbon, the lowest one, until you get to feet.

Windy no longer provides history. It may be added again at a later date but I am unaware when or if that will actually happen.

    • How about having a dew point display?

I am new to Windyty and have been wondering why no one has done a website like this before. Well done and thanks. My request is for a dew point map. Relative humidity is nice but it is much easier for someone to understand how it feels outside using the dew point. Thanks again,

    • What weather am I really seeing on a Windy map?

I have always been puzzled by the time zones on a Windy map as I check into the future. I hope I can explain my question so it make sense. But feel free to tell me I'm nuts if you want, lol.

Let's say it is 7 am today here in San Diego, CA USA (the west coast of the USA). When I am looking at the current time, 7 am Windy map, I understand that places like NYC (USA east coast) are 3 time zones away but what weather is being shown in NYC? Am I seeing their 10 am weather or seeing their past 7 am weather?

Ok, now let’s say I move the time slider into the future. If I look at the San Diego 7 am map for tomorrow, am I seeing NYC's forecasted 7 am weather for tomorrow or their forecasted 10 am weather for tomorrow? London and San Diego are 8 hours apart so if I am displaying the 7 am map for tomorrow here in San Diego, am I seeing the 3 pm London weather forecast or their 7 am forecast for tomorrow?

I hope I have asked my question clear enough so that I can get help straightening out my poor brain, ha ha.

Also, sleet tends to be softer pellets where hail is frozen rock hard.

    • RE: Incorrect local wind information

@noiseyland It would help the developers and programmers if you posted some context like: What's the location where you see incorrect wind information? Also, if you could snap some screen shots of what you are observing it would help them a lot.

    • RE: Colors on the map

I don't think the colors mean anything more than they were chosen because they look good and represent colors which generally are used for temperatures. If you check the preferences at the bottom you can choose the colors you like.

    • RE: Home page

You can get local forecasts for many locations. Here's how. I'm using the web version of Windy but the steps will be similar with either app.

In the lower right corner of the screen, there are three horizontal boxes with some choices you have available. Click on the Partly Cloudy icon.
      0_1502478298796_Choose Forcasted Weather.png
When you zoom into an area (I'm showing St. Louis, MO . USA), a number of blue boxes will display with wind speeds.
0_1502478387469_Zoom into Area and Click Blue Box.png
Click on one of the blue boxes (I clicked the box over St Louis) and the lower portion of the screen will display a forecast for the area.
0_1502478549933_The weather forecast for St Louis.png
There will be a 6 day forecast plus other useful information as you scroll to the right.

      Enjoy, James

    • RE: "show weather picker" displays 0% humidity always

@kcorbin I just tested the weather picker on a web browser version of Windy and the humidity always shows. To help you more, you need to post more info. Are you using web browser and if so which one? Using iOS or Android App? Do you have the humidity layer chosen? Please post more info.
